Princeton qualifies for NCAA tourney vs #4 Florida State

Lisa is a natural to take over for Fran….someday. Unless she does so well that she moves up to an elite team!

Lisa (Sweeney) Van Ackeren, a four-time Patriot League Pitcher of the Year at Lehigh and a New Jersey native, enters her fifth season as Princeton’s head softball coach in 2017.

In her first season, Van Ackeren became the winningest first-year coach in Princeton softball history, finishing at 27-19 and with the best record since the Tigers went 34-19 in 2006. Princeton’s 12-8 Ivy League record in Van Ackeren’s first year was the program’s best since 2008, when the team went 18-2.

Through four seasons, Van Ackeren has a record of 85-97, already the third-winningest coach in program history.

Lisa still bleeds brown and white an openly admits it. At 85-97, she has a long way to go before entertaining offers from elite teams.
My favorite Lisa Sweeney story was her final high school game, playing for the state championship at the highest level. She walked the 1st batter, who was thrown out trying to steal 2nd. She then retired the next 20 in order, striking out 18 of them.

I have little doubt that she will come to Lehigh if Fran ever retires :)

Keep in mind that she is 85-97 lifetime at Princeton. Joe has scheduled Princeton every year since Lisa took over. Lehigh is 5-0 with 3 games cancelled due to weather.
