And, this Board is dead. Haven’t seen it this quiet in 7-8 years leading up to a season. With football off to such a slow, and disappointing start, I thought we might see a turn to the hardwood. But, nothing. Dead.
I know the team looks down this season, but let’s get some chatter going. Only 52 days until we are at Marist!
September 20, 2017 at 6:27 pm #32111Wrestling is still king at Lehigh so take your hoops talk somewhere else.
September 20, 2017 at 9:26 pm #32112Lehigh has a wrestling team?
September 21, 2017 at 2:11 am #32113I’m having a hard time getting excited about this season after the disappointment of the Kempton/Price era. In 10 years, Reed has only won a PL regular season or championship with a future NBA lottery pick on the roster. It’s frustrating to watch talent underachieve and be so consistently inconsistent over his tenure. Not to mention losing players annually to transfer and not planning accordingly.
All that said, I think all three freshman have the chance to be very good. With those three, plus Tejada, plus (huge hopefully here) Lieb and Sedore – it’s intriguing in how much we don’t know. Ross and Leufroy are both above average PL players, all league in Ross’s case. Hopefully Leufroy plays his way onto all league this year. Andree and Cohen can play at this level, and that’s about all we know.
September 21, 2017 at 10:31 am #32115I completely echo your thoughts Bum. We have very little idea how this team will be, but there is big upside potential. My two biggest question marks are:
1: How good is Mr. Karnick and how did we find him and then get him, at what seems to be the very last minute of the recruiting season?
2: Why would an intelligent fellow like Buck make his dopey comment in this thread?September 22, 2017 at 2:56 pm #32121I’m definitely among those who are slow to get excited for hoops. Some of that is real-world stuff taking my attention, and the football season hasn’t helped excitement either. But the state of our hoops is part of it too, for sure. I mentioned in another thread that I fear a return to early 90’s. Here’s some of what gets me there:
* When was the last season you remember that we didn’t have a sure-fire 1st team PL player? A first-tier contender for PL POY? A guy who would start for every other PL team?
* I don’t think we can begin to guess who will start this year. Maybe 2 locks. That’s uncomfortable.
* I don’t think we have a single returning, proven paint player.
* I see posts of team pix, and pix from workouts, and am shocked at how few players I recognize. Sure, much of that is on me – my own engagement is down. Startling none the less.
* Our OOC schedule looks very tough. I wouldn’t change that – I think it’s good for the program in every way. And most years it would ADD excitement. My optimism is just low this year, and it looks like we’re going to have a rough start.September 23, 2017 at 8:59 pm #32139It’s very up in the air for sure. Tejada could be a stud for us. Has somewhat of a higher D1 pedigree. I think he’s a starter along with KR and KL. Bigs are a total question mark. Solid backup to Ross in Cohen. You know Andree is an elite shooter. He could go either way as a starter or scorer off the bench. Everybody else is question mark although looks like we have at least 2 solid freshman.
Reed is a bit of an enigma. We have always been critical of his in game coaching. He has been a good recruiter, although that has dipped lately. If he gets a top four PL finish this year it would be impressive.
September 26, 2017 at 10:35 pm #32231Hello guys. How is everyone. I’m doing good. Been busy. Working and also enjoying the life of being a father to a baby girl. Anyway I have checked in here every so often and the chat has been dead. Besides a few of us updating recruits and such. I am a nerd when it comes to this team. But I am very excited for the season to begin. Agreed a lot of question marks. I see the starting five being. Ross. Lance. Kyle. Pat. And James. Maybe Lieb over pat but I doubt it. My concern for this year is mainly experience when it comes to a good part of these kids. And also Ross. Ross needs to be the leader. I often see him not happy when things aren’t going his way. Can’t have that. I truly believe that we will see Kyle take a huge next step. He will be the leader and be the best player we have. I go for a walk twice a week up at Lehigh. Live down the road. I always walk by stabler and can’t wait for the season to begin but also weird that every time I pass that arena. I have thoughts of that holy cross game. Haha. Still haunts me. I am hoping we can be around a 4-5 seed this year. We need to stay healthy. And need a guy or two outside of Kyle and Ron to step up and really give good mins. Lieb really needs to show something. Pat I hope has worked on his all around game. Seems to be a one trick pony at times. There’s tons of questions and weather it’s the cj days. The Tim days. Whoever. I am a fan and I support these kids and this team. Maybe I care to much at times lol. But I can’t wait for this year. Let’s get this chat up and going again
September 27, 2017 at 2:19 am #32232Let the season begin! And get my mind off Goodman stadium….
September 27, 2017 at 3:16 am #32234I think we need to get used to the fact that we will be playing small at least in the early season.
It is my understanding that neither Lieb or Sedore are ready to go. The former needed an adjustment done on his prior surgery. ACL on both knees may be difficult to come back from for Sedore.
On the flip side, I saw Porter and he looks to be a good sized young man. He’s now listed at 6-7. He was recruited by some big time schools out of HS.September 27, 2017 at 3:22 am #32235[quote quote=32234]I think we need to get used to the fact that we will be playing small at least in the early season.

Wow, that’s a bummer of a post. Not surprised Sedore is having trouble coming off back to back ACL injuries, but I was hoping Lieb would be ready from Day 1 this year.
September 28, 2017 at 12:09 am #32248Any word on what issue is with jack. I know last year he has a surgery and there were complications from it. But I am shocked he wouldn’t be ready to start.
September 28, 2017 at 2:19 am #32249Another complication with the surgery, I’m told.
September 28, 2017 at 4:23 pm #32262I think Sedore may be done. Shame as he may never play a game for Lehigh. Starting to think Lieb headed down same path. We have had our share of injured bigs over last 5-10 years.
Looks like Karnik may be the starter at the 5. Not many other options. If you are healthy, you start in the frontcourt for this team.
Can Andree hold down the 4 spot? He’s pretty slight. Going to miss Holba in a big way this season.
October 10, 2017 at 10:32 pm #32453Practice is underway now for at least a week or maybe two. Has anyone heard anything on how the new class looks (EP, MW, CB, JK, & transfer LJ) ???? Usually by now someone leaks an initial reaction as to who looks promising in the early drills & scrimmages…. Anybody hear anything? I’ll even take whispered rumors!
