Lehigh 225th (12-12, 5-6) Ranked 225th
LU wins 68-63 (72% chance)With seven games to go in the regular season, it appears the PL Coaches in their Pre-season Poll had this one pegged – calling Loyola to finish 5th and Lehigh 6th. And, that’s just the way it sits today. They also had Army pegged for 3rd and Colgate for 8th. And, that’s where they sit today. Don’t ask them to explain, however, their preseason ranking of 9th for AU – a team that sits atop the PL today with a 10-1 record.
Lehigh enters tomorrow’s contest at its lowest KenPom ranking of the season: 225th – a drop of 12 spots following out 19 point loss to Army. No complaints here. Surprised it wasn’t a bigger drop.
Can’t remember the last time I cheered for The Bison of Bucknell (5-6), but I will on Sunday as they take on the 4th place Crusaders of Holy Cross (7-4). If we want to play at home in the quarter-final round of the playoffs, we need to trade places with the Crusaders. A win tomorrow coupled with a Crusader loss on Sunday would put us one game out of 4th with a HC/LU showdown planned for next Saturday at Stabler.
Around the League this Weekend
CU @ AU 2pm, Sat.
N @ A 4pm, Sat. (CBS Sports Network)
LC @ Boston U. 1pm, Sat.
BU @ HC 4pm, Sun. (CBS Sports Network)
Loyola @ LU 2pm, Sat.LU to change the starting lineup?
Why not? AP has struggled of late and SC has shinned – even on defense – albeit in limited duty. It wouldn’t be the Canadian first start – if did it twice as a sophomore. Hey, he’s got the experience (76 games total) and the hot hand. What is there to lose? As for the “bigs,” I wouldn’t be surprised to see JG get added minutes at the expense of SW. There could be no bigger disparity in energy between the two and we need the shot in the arm that JG provides. Interesting Stat:FG%s: .710 JG and .443 SW
Minutes/Game: 14.8 JG and 17.3 SWFebruary 8, 2014 at 4:18 pm #13571In case you missed it: it looks like Loyola’s Dylon Cormier is done for the season. Certainly not the way you want to beat anybody, but this certainly improves our chances today. I really do feel bad for the kid – I was very impressed with him when I saw our game at Loyola.
February 8, 2014 at 7:15 pm #13572no video?
February 8, 2014 at 9:14 pm #13573well video finally shows up and no sound, is this the 1970’s?
February 8, 2014 at 9:29 pm #13574It’s a good day to be a Lehigh fan so far. I spent the afternoon watching men’s lacrosse beat Marquette, then switching to see our women beat Loyola and then the men doing the same. Now I I’m off to see us wrestle Rutgers. A win will complete my day.
February 8, 2014 at 10:17 pm #13575your day should be complete, we should be favored in 7 of 10 bouts, will be quite disappointed if we lose this dual
Marquette not much competition for LAX, they we really over matched
February 9, 2014 at 2:05 am #13576Just finished wrestling. Well done. Now to watch Bball. A very good day for LU today.
February 9, 2014 at 5:25 pm #13577Just some icing on the cake. Lehigh Track & Field broke 5 school records yesterday.
February 10, 2014 at 1:11 am #13583Good to get a win, but definitely zero style points in the Loyola game. Loyola has lost their best player for the year, and their second best player went down early yesterday. Definitely played down to their level.
AU is on the ropes, so Wednesday will be interesting. It seems like opposing PL teams might be picking up on AU’s new system (Princeton style) and that their second go-round the league could be quite a bit rougher. At least the guys should understand what they are up against at this point.
