Humiliating!
November 26, 2016 at 8:53 pm #29656This says a lot:
First half offensive yardage:
LU: 246
UNH: 381Some odd offensive play calling early.
No comment on the D. Still a second half to play. Won’t be easy, but …
November 26, 2016 at 9:01 pm #29657Lehigh in a total funk. Mayes looked lost and was passing everything high. Defense looks like it is still on the bus. Coaching also questionable.
30 minutes to overcome a 22 pt deficit – possible, but it doesn’t look good.
November 26, 2016 at 9:17 pm #29658Chip Kelly is apparently still alive and well at NH. I just noticed that with 12-1/2 minutes left in the 3rd qtr there have already been 20 possession in this game.
November 26, 2016 at 9:32 pm #29659What a joke of a defense!!!!!!
November 26, 2016 at 9:36 pm #29661UNH: 528 yards with 18 mins to go.
November 26, 2016 at 9:50 pm #29662The terrible defense we have grown accustomed to in the last 3 or 4 years once again rears its ugly head. You are never going to convince me that Botts is a competent defense coordinator.
November 26, 2016 at 10:41 pm #29663Thanks for the ride, Lehigh Football. Great season, and a good bit better than we hoped over the summer. Up from here!
Effectively losing Shaf and Caslow was a really, really cruel finish.November 26, 2016 at 10:45 pm #29664Sadly, this was truly an embarrassment.
The team and staff were totally unprepared for this game physically, emotionally, and in any other way.
It was hard to recognize what occurred today vs what Lehigh football is supposed to represent and what occurred vs many of the teams we played this season. And there is wonder why we are not given more respect in national ratings?!!
November 26, 2016 at 10:51 pm #29665This has been the same team all year just minus a very weak Patroit and Ivy schedule masking Bott’s incompetence as D coordinator. D has never stopped the run. Unfortunately for the team, they won the league and have likely protected a coaching staff that will live for another day / 3 years.
November 26, 2016 at 11:29 pm #29668An embarrassing debacle. O out of sync for most of game. Turns out both Nick and Brad have the flu. Nicks is worse.
Today tho falls on D. Pathetic showing. Worse they just gave up mid 3rd. Loss of CC does not cause today. That bunch unprepared. INTs a plus but does not explain what we saw today. Team was flat . That is on staff IMO.November 26, 2016 at 11:33 pm #29669
Anonymousoh boy, here we go!!!! They are back…I do agree that the Patriot and Ivy league has zero defenses. Do think having the Seahawks in camp this week might have influenced some decisions??? Sad…Thought Mayes looked sub-par and the announcers were commenting how he locks on kids immediately…dead giveaway for a decently coached defense. Our defense was bad and not having #5 probably hurt alot. Dumped alot of balls over the middle. We were in nickel alot so I dont really know if he would have helped or not. I know he wouldn’t have hurt us..We did better than all of us thought. Sad that the team played with zero heart and seemed to be out of sync from the start. Blame the coaches I guess but I thought NH was okay, certainly not 40 points better that us. FIRE ALL THE COACHES, BAND, AND MASCOT…Okay, I said what everybody was afraid to say. lol Think we will be okay and life goes on. Happy Holidays!!!GO LEHIGH
November 26, 2016 at 11:40 pm #29670Thanks for the ride, Lehigh Football. Great season, and a good bit better than we hoped over the summer. Up from here!
Effectively losing Shaf and Caslow was a really, really cruel finish.Exactly. This team took us on an amazing ride this year and no one is more disappointed in the finish than them.
To me though I’m far more disappointed in some of the comments above. It’s more than OK to be passionate about your team. It is far less mature to call for a staff change every time we lose a game. This team won 9 in a row. They beat our main rival. They won the PL outright. Coen was COY in the PL and a finalist for COY nationally. Smell the roses and move on to the next season.I’m off my soapbox.
November 26, 2016 at 11:56 pm #29671I feel bad for guys like Caslow and Shaf: They play football their whole lives to play in a game like this and it ends this way. You want to be in there when the game’s on the line.
One day we’ll find out the details about who felt how on the QB situation. If the QBs felt that badly, establishing a running game would have really taken the pressure off. The O line seemed quite challenged today.
I’d love to hear the decision-making on which QB played when and why.
The D was the D. Did Kauffman play? I kept seeing sophomore Walker in there at LB for Caslow.
Like Rich said, one man does not make a defense. As someone else said, the CAA is not the Ivy or PL. It’s great our D can dominate several of the IL and PL offenses. Is that what our coaching staff has recruited/prepared them for? Is that the goal?
Despite the 3 INTs, our DBs sometimes looked like deer in the headlights, playing the man, never even looking at the ball. Luckily the BACKUP UNH QB was not as accurate as our QBs usually are.
Missed tackles– argh. Haven’t seen that in weeks.
Today LU gave up 637 yards and 64 points, including 100+-yard games for two RBs (one with 184 yards on the day). The D or coaching staff was asleep on a two-point conversion early in the game.
Against a 7-4 team that was worried it wouldn’t get in the playoffs for the first time in more than a decade.
LU this year was a GREAT Patriot League team and champion. They have a lot to be proud of. It’s never easy to win all of your league games.
The good news is lots of guys are back and will have a really bitter taste in their mouths.
I look forward to next year, especially if we can start playing DEFENSE with the rest of the nation’s teams. Defense wins championships.
If we can’t, we might still have a tough time with Fordham, Holy Cross and Colgate and, if we win, have a tough time in the first round.
November 27, 2016 at 12:02 am #29672Great season lehigh in a horrible conference. Our D was as advertised. I’ve been saying all yr how our safeties get beat deep. Today the wrs caught the ball, they even dropped a td. Horrible DB play, they will all start next yr, sad. So many quoted our stats vs horrible offenses. It is what it is. At least kids get a ring
