    Awaiting word on his eligibility:

An already-interesting upcoming PL basketball season just got even more interesting.

If the PL follows its bylaws, no decision will be made until November.    I suspect they will bypass the rules, however, and make a decision earlier.

Oh I think this changes things a bit. Can’t wait for the chatter on Lumpy.

When you have a 19+ ERA in Rookie Ball, your baseball career is going to be short.  Obviously, the baseball scouts fell in love with this guy’s body (6’8″ pitcher and lefthanded), but he wasn’t ready for that level of competition.  American is a factor with him back for sure.  A two headed race, now has three heads.

    1.    He is not a sure thing to be back.    I think it’s likely but maybe only 75% likely.    If the PL followed its own bylaws, it would be less than 50-50.

    2.   His return will help AU no doubt, but imo it won’t turn it into a 3-way race.   AU lost a lot (Hinkle, Brewer, McCormack, Jolivette, Grafft, and Simon) and even if Carroll somehow gains immediate eligibility they won’t be at the level of BU or LU (assuming good health).   Definitely will be in the running for 3rd however.   Also Lumpkins and Wroblicky are similar players and likely can’t play at the same time – which takes away a bit of Lumpkins’ added value.

I think I will wait to see how preseason works out. Knowing Lumpy from high school, I think he has a point to prove and getting back in the coaches good graces is made easier with good play. Well at least things are interesting. Thanks for the feedback everyone.
