Looks great. Having some scoring threat from all corners is good, but we’re going to need some physical inside presence to help Knutson out. Maneri has some bulk, but not the athleticism of a Carrington. A Carrington clone is needed big time.

Greiner and Knutson very athletic if not as strong as Z. McCarthy is a real big body.Howgood? Extra yr prepping should help.

McKnight was recently named 1st team all greater houston by the Houston Chronicle. Other first teamers are commited to Texas A&M, Providence, and Western Kentucky. 2nd and 3rd team players are headed to UNC-Greensboro, Sam Houston State, UT-Arlington, and Stephen F. Austin amongst others.

Gotta love everything you read about Mackey………….

Langham Creek High senior point guard Mackey McKnight led Greater Houston in scoring with 24.1 points per game in the Lobos’ best season in program history.

McKnight led the Lobos to playoff overtime victories over two district champions, Cedar Park and The Woodlands, as well as College Park before losing to Garland Lakeview Centennial, 69-63, in overtime.

McKnight looks to be a very good signing by Dr. Reed. At Langham Creek High School, he played in a 5A league. And….he led the league in scoring (24 PPG), assists (6.2 A/G), and Free Throws (most attempts and highest percentage made at 78%). http://www.langhamcreekbasketball.com/15_5A_Sats.html

With the loss of our starting point guard for the past four years, this will be a critical position to be filled next season and the competition looks to be intense. Small was the primary back-up at the point guard last year, but sometimes it seems his game has not progressed tremendously over the past three years. Shamis may well be back and be another year recovered from his injury. And then there is newcomers B.J. Bailey and Mackey McKnight. Both players look to be solid.

Marquis is leaving some very big shoes to fill, but we have contenders for the role. Given Reed’s propensity to tilt towards youth, I expect Bailey and/or McKnight will be given the opportunity to lose the starting point guard position.
