Needed a game page for the opener on Saturday. Only 4 days away, and Board is as quiet as I have ever seen. I think I am heading to Poughkeepsie on Saturday, at least hopeful to do so.
Anybody making the trip? LU65? Others? Should be a very interesting game to see where we are with this team.
November 7, 2017 at 4:15 pm #32801Not all that quiet but a lot of focus on Holy Cross. Do want to see who Doc starts and who he rotates in.

Game Notes
Lehigh
We await.Marist
We await.Just saying……
Here we go……Game 1 of 10 on our OOC Schedule. Looking at it as 400 minutes, barring overtime(s), to grow and shape this team into a contender by the time we play for real on December 29. Dare I say, into a more powerful unit that most think possible. Ah, the dream of every Mountain Hawk fan and this ol’ Alum.
It won’t be easy, lacking much of the star power we had grown accustomed to over the past four years. TK and AP seldom disappointed, giving us a combined 62.4 mpg, 32.3ppg, and 13.7 rpg last year. Stats not easily replaced. Of greatest concern, however, as many have pointed out would be our experience and depth in the front court. To highlight the sad news, remember only Andree and Wolf (walk-on) remain. The two combined to score, on average, 7.3 ppg while registering a combined 21.4 minutes of court time/game. And, how about the health and durability of our returning giants, 6’11” Sedore and 6’10” Lieb? Ready to compete of take their seat at the end of the bench? And, what about newcomer Porter? His he really on crutches? Is James Karnick, our 6’9” Canadian import, as good as advertised? What did Tejada learn from a year of team practices and observing game day action from the bench? All that said, we do know – as do others around the league – that we have a backcourt due of KR and KL that is second to none.
As for Marist, check out the Redfoxes sites below and, in particular, the video/story done on #2, Brian Parker. The 6’3” junior point guard was not only a double-digit scorer last year but led the team in both assists and rebounds. Should be fun to watch KR and Parker go at it.

Here’s how KenPom sees it going down on the opening weekend of play for members of the Patriot league. Remember, Lehigh is the only team to play on Saturday. The others kickoff their programs on Friday.
Lehigh by 4 over Marist …. at Marist
Monmouth by 3 over Bucky….at Momouth
Northeastern by 1 over Boston U….at BU
Hofstra by 8 over Army….at Hofstra
Northwestern by 21 over Loyola/MD….at Northwestern
Navy by 1 over Pitt….at Navy
Kansas State by 20 over American…at Kansas State
UConn by 11 over Colgate…at UConn
Sacred Heart by 2 over Holy Cross…at Sacred Heart
George Mason by 10 over Lafayette…at George MasonNovember 7, 2017 at 5:53 pm #32804[quote quote=32803]

I mentioned awhile ago how weak Pitt figured to be this year. Pomeroy actually has them as an underdog to Navy.
November 7, 2017 at 6:17 pm #32806137, I promise you, I didn’t do it on purpose. I simply must have flipped the team names. Yes, for what it matters, The Bison are favored by 3 on the road to take down Monmouth. Seriously, good luck. We’ll need it, in turn, when they come calling at Stabler next week.
November 7, 2017 at 10:47 pm #32811In my opinion Northwestern is the best team the Patriot league will take on opening night(s). Our son is an alum of NU and I’ll have the pleasure of seeing them against/at DePaul in downtown Chicago in mid December. Doug Collins son Chris has been the real coaching deal in turning around the Big Ten’s historic door mat. A job our league’s very own Bill Carmody couldn’t quite get done.
November 8, 2017 at 1:20 am #32814Again I am not certain it was ed Porter in the video live from the dunk contest. I saw a guy in a Lehigh jersey. On crutches. Number ten. So being a lot of new faces I googled the roster and saw he was number ten. But yesterday saw a video posted previewing the season I believe I saw porter in background from practice but it was hard to make out
November 9, 2017 at 5:15 pm #32828Game Notes are up!
Ross, Leufroy, Tejeda, Karnick, and Andree get the start.
November 9, 2017 at 5:17 pm #32829Thanks 65. Not much of a surprise. I really want to see how Doc does his rotations. Yeah and who is healthy?
November 9, 2017 at 11:05 pm #32830Stuck at home Friday night and anxious to checkout out not only all our PL brethren (Lehigh is the only one to kickoff its season on Saturday) but future Out of Conference opponents, as well. I might suggest double-dipping with BUCKY vs. MONMOUTH (our next opponent) and PITT vs. NAVY. The later will be featured on the big screen and covered by CBS Cable Sports. Reviews welcomed.

Bucknell-Monmouth is on ESPN3 (WatchESPN): http://www.espn.com/watch/_/id/3206274/bucknell-vs-monmouth-m-basketball?DB_OEM_ID=32100
November 11, 2017 at 4:33 pm #32859I watched Navy-Pitt, and Navy looked really good. Honestly appeared to be the better team. Moved the ball really well, and somehow played bigger than their roster seems to indicate. As expected, Bucky-Monmouth was nip-and-tuck, and Loyola did MUCH better at NW than anyone would have expected, I think. On the whole, I think the league had a pretty decent opening night. Even the ‘pards appear to have had a solid showing vs. GMU.
November 12, 2017 at 12:25 am #32864Porter playing and getting O Rebounds. Tejada is the real deal.
November 12, 2017 at 2:27 am #32865LU 84-76 in OT. Tejada 24 pts. The man can score. D still sloppy at times. Nice to see Andree driving to the basket. Porter tough inside banger. Yayyy! Nice start.
November 12, 2017 at 3:03 am #32866Would have loved to have been there, but the radio coverage – including post game interviews with LT and Coach Reed – was an outstanding listen.
Sleep better tonight (ha) knowing our First-timers (LT, CB, JK, and EP) combined for 40 points. And, that’s with our much-heralded 6’9″ Center, James Karnick, getting off to a slow start in his college career (fouling-in out after a 3pt/4 board night). Ya gotta think, it can only get better for the big guy.
On to Monmouth, our home-opener, on Tuesday night.
