    Selected by the Cleveland Indians out of Lehigh University in the second supplemental round (No. 75 overall) of the June 2006 First-Year Player Draft…signed by Brent Urcheck…hit .417 with 12 homers and 61 RBIs during his junior year, while stealing 22 bases in 27 attempts…led the Patriot League in all three Triple Crown categories and was a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award…majored in political science…graduated from Liberty High School (Bethlehem, Pa.) in 2003.

    Spent time at three different levels then added a postseason stint in Hawaii Winter Baseball…began the season with the (Rookie-level) Gulf Coast League Indians (June 20-July 24)…batted .380 (19-for-50) in 17 games, with two home runs, nine RBIs, three stolen bases and 13 runs scored, posting an impressive 1.163 on-base plus slugging percentage…hit in six of last nine games, all multi-hit efforts…went 3-for-3 with a homer and three runs scored July 11 vs. the GCL Blue Jays…jumped to the Kinston Indians of the Class A Advanced Carolina League (July 26-Aug.17)…batted .179 (12-for-67) in 17 games, with six RBIs and nine runs scored…hit in three of first four games, but began to struggle in early August…sent to the Lake County Captains of the Class A South Atlantic (Aug. 20-Sept. 1)…bounced back, hitting .308 (12-for-39) in 11 games, with one home run, seven RBIs and six runs scored…had hits in eight of 11 games, including four multi-hit outings…batted .285 in 33 games with North Shore Honu (Sept. 27-Nov. 14), with three homers, 22 RBIs and eighteen runs scored.

    Began the season with the Lake County Captains of the Class A South Atlantic League…led Lake County and was tied with five other players for sixth in the SAL with 35 doubles…finished second in the Indians system in doubles (37) and ninth in average (.287)…named to the South Atlantic League All-Star team…collected a season-high four hits April 9 against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, going 4-for-4 with a double, four RBIs, two walks and a run scored…went 2-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored May 3 against the Hickory Crawdads…went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, three RBIs, a walk and three runs scored June 7 against the Hagerstown Suns…had four straight multi-hit games June 16-22 and went 9-for-19 (.474) in that span…hit home runs in back-to-back games June 17-21 against the West Virginia Power and Delmarva Shorebirds, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs, a walk and two runs scored June 17 and 2-for-4 with a season-high six RBIs, a walk and one run scored June 21…hit solo home runs in consecutive games July 4-5, both against the Lakewood BlueClaws…nearly hit for the cycle Aug. 13 against the Asheville Tourists, going 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, an RBI and two runs scored…played two games in September for the Akron Aeros of the Double-A Eastern League…went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored Sept. 3 against the Binghamton Mets…underwent minor shoulder surgery during the 2007-2008 offseason. Batted .272 with four home runs, 31 RBIs, five stolen bases and 24 runs scored in 52 games with the Mahoning Valley Scrappers of the Class A Short-Season New York-Penn League…named to the NYPL All-Star team.
