Per other post on American thread, think this needs its own thread so we can keep each other updated. Middle Tennessee went down, Lunardi had them at 14, and I just saw Iona went down, and he had them at a 13…very good day for both BU and LU in terms of seeding potential….two big losses that could sneak one of us into a 14…need about 3 or 4 more of those and we could be in good shape..
March 5, 2012 at 3:34 am #5132That’s good for the PL. Perhaps PL can win and advance to game 2. Thanks for the update. Next week will be busy with work and all. Appreciate all the updates going forth.
March 5, 2012 at 4:13 pm #5138I am curious to see what happens to Iona with their RPI, could they possibly get an at-large. And, also curious as to what happens to Drexel if they lose in their tourney. They have won 19 in a row and 25 of 26, could they get an at-large. Could the CAA get 2 teams? I think VCU and Drexel are both going to finish with at least 27 wins, winner of CAA final 28, loser 27.
March 5, 2012 at 4:29 pm #5139Drexel is 63rd in RPI and played the 225th ranked schedule. Also, their only win over a strong team is their win over VCU. So I think they have almost no shot.
VCU has better credentials but will likely be on the wrong side of the bubble if they lose.
March 6, 2012 at 1:35 am #5149Watching MAAC champ fairfield vs loyola md, and man, I don’t know your guys thoughts but I’m going to seriously miss seeing us in that happy hour time slot on Friday afternoon of championship week on ESPN. CBSSN is great, but lets be brutally honest, it doesn’t hold a freeking candle to espn from notoriety, coverage, exposure. So many people that I know, that I consider BIG sports fans, have CBSSN and didn’t even know they had it until I told them to look for it so they could watch LU cause they were/are sick of me talking about LU Hoops. I can’t complain, the deal for the duration of the season is solid, I loved all the LU games that we got this year, but a little piece of me is disapointed that we’re not on ESPN this year…
March 6, 2012 at 2:04 am #5150Oral Roberts, huge heavy favorite in the Summit league and another projected 13 by Lunardi, got wiped out today by W Illinois, more good news for BU/LU…
March 6, 2012 at 2:16 am #5151Western Carolina beating Davidson tonight would make a remarkable last two days in terms of seeding for PL winner, as Lunardi has Davidson as a 14 currently…Western Carolina at 17-17 and kenpom 240’s would certainly be a 16…but man they don’t look like a 16 early here in this one…
March 6, 2012 at 2:17 am #5152Well unfortunately not so easy on that one, as that was just the semifinal. S Dakota State is in the other semi tonight and is around 50ish in rpi right now. If SDS gets knocked out, then yes the winner of the tourney would have a lower rpi than LU/BU. Oral Roberts sitting around high 30s before the game tonight. Any chance Roberts still gets in??
Also, while in mid post, Loyola just held on to beat Fairfield. Loyola has a better rpi than LU by about 15-20 spots, and almost even with BU, though they did win at BU. Fairfield winning would have been better. Oh well
March 6, 2012 at 2:17 am #5153Dikembo mutombo nephew working Davidson right now..has 10 in 5 minutes..
March 6, 2012 at 2:28 am #5154W. Carolina would certainly be play-in game as things stand right now (wow 3-and-1 as I type). Just looked and Lunardi has Roberts as a 13 right now, so they would be right on the border as his second play-in at-large game is for a #13 between UT and NW. Losing in their semi certainly won’t help their cause – I would imagine they are out in his next update.
And a Dikembe sighting!
March 6, 2012 at 2:32 am #5155Conversely, when a mid-major regular season champ loses, it diminshes the chance of Lehigh possibly getting at at-large bid to the NIT if they were to lose on Wednesday. Just a thought.
March 6, 2012 at 2:45 am #5156LU06 – I know it was a semi, but got to root for them to lose at some point.
TMH – we’re ncaa or bust baby, kidding, but I hear you…W Carolina definitely pig contender….
I don’t think ORoberts gets at large…lower kenpom then us and only big win was vs xavier and that was when xavier had all the suspensions post cincy fight….March 6, 2012 at 4:09 am #5157Hoops00 – hadn’t checked out Roberts kenpom, but wow, heck of a difference between their rpi and kenpom rating. Also good point on the Xavier win they had, rpi definitely does not factor that in. Case in point: ESPNs new BPI, which factors in missing players and margin of victory, among other things RPI does not, has Roberts at 79. I think I would have to lean them being out due to the info you brought up.
Wow OT in both games right now…wish I had two TVs right next to each other.
March 6, 2012 at 5:03 am #5159Excuse me experts. What this about LU in the NIT if they lose?
March 6, 2012 at 6:37 am #5160Had WCU upset Davidson, I think BU/LU would have been a 14.
But Denver losing in the Sun Belt does help LU/BU’s cause, as that champion will now have a lower RPI.
Chalk me up as a guy who thinks Drexel is out of the tourney. I felt they had to win today, and there is simply a laundry list of good teams eating up at-large bids like Wichita State, etc.
