Basset has LU as 14 pt favorite. Hard to believe that this time next week we will be talking about our 1st game and seeing how we really are this yr
August 26, 2012 at 6:00 pm #6492Can’t wait, see you at the King of Tailgates.
August 26, 2012 at 6:29 pm #6493Seems to me that several key pieces to this team, including the QB — who has tons of upside — are untested.
Is Lehigh too much of a (PL) favorite right now?
August 26, 2012 at 7:38 pm #6494Too much? Not by us. Polls and mags are nice but PL is improved top to bottom. We have lots of talent but huge holes in experience everywhere cept DB , RB and OL. A lot of the kids have to step up. There is no team w/o holes. Gate and Pards if they find OLs will be tough. Altho Gate meeds a D too. Teams with vetefan qns in the PL usually do well.
August 26, 2012 at 8:07 pm #6495Like out experience at LB also, these guys got a lot of playing time last year. Lot of skill at WR, although not all tested yet. TE and FBs very solid. First 3 DL very competent, not sure of back ups there. Big ? is at QB in my mind, but Colvin has the potential to be solid and is supported by great coaching from Chick. We can be very good without Colvin being great. Could be very special if Colvin blossoms beyond expectations.
Here is a question for pondering: What Frosh will step in and contribute this year? Last year only Suggs got much time on the field as a KR and a couple guys got time on kick off team. Discussion?
August 26, 2012 at 9:44 pm #6496LB not that much experience Boyko Loughery amd Gordon. Nigel w some. Mahoney 1st yr at Lb, Heschke none, Laub a frosh. He and Knott will impact. Expect to see many play. Brown, Jones (kr), Lambert, Phillips, Owens, Manganiello, Robb will play. Altho deep Kee should see PT he and Brown are very good.

August 26, 2012 at 11:14 pm #6498Rich — do you think those freshman will see the field/make an impact? Do that many frosh actually get to see the field? I saw Knott play at the first scrimmage; he looked very good.
August 26, 2012 at 11:43 pm #6499Knott will be in wr rotation. Ryan, Parris, Burke, Fernandez, Kurfis. Would not surprised to see him start in 4 wr sets. Rigaud was 1 I forgot. Also DL rotation does not look set yet. Dont expect DCs will go with less than 6 or 7 if talent there. Athletically probably a better squad. Experience?
August 27, 2012 at 12:00 am #6500I was very impressed with video of Bourgeous, have not heard much about him from camp. Also, Tashan Mitchell saw time on KO last year, seemed to be a good athlete (LAX also).
Would like to see Kee returning kicks this year.
No idea who the second deep DL are, but they are a key element given the rotation that a 3-4 demands.
August 27, 2012 at 12:30 am #6501Bourgeois will be on 2 deep. Mitchell was behind Nigel but Laub is noe. Jones may KR but agree Kee has to play. Jamgochian is a stud needs some weight will star.
August 27, 2012 at 12:31 am #6502I too would like to see Kee returning kickoffs but that is strictly based on his HS resume. Personally, I think that Lehigh may be tough to scheme defensively in Week 1. The offense will be built around Colvin but do you go to the tape and scout the OC and his tendencies which is to throw early and often or do you get your take from watching Colvin on tape who almost never threw. Will Lehigh run from the spread or throw? Is Colvin capable of rolling out and then stop and throw with some accuracy? If he is, then it could be a long year for opposing defenses.
August 27, 2012 at 1:02 am #6505Nice take, expect we will run more and I expect very well. Less pressure on Mike. He need only avoid dumb plays. Opens up field for him.
