Selection show is tonight, anyone think we have a chance at one of the play in games? Tournament is taking 18 this year with 2 play in games to get the privilege of playing the #1 and #2 seeds. Seems like a long shot but Cassese might have enough respect to get us the nod! Conference upsets really hurting our chances though.

I was surprised to see that there wasn’t debate at this site about Loyola’s seed. Seems rough that they beat Duke, had a better record than Duke, and were still seeded below them.
What makes it worse, to me, is in the first comment. No gripe about Loyola because… Patriot League. I hope that gets better soon. Maybe Loyola making a strong run will help – but I doubt it will do a ton of good. I don’t think the crowd questions Loyola, but just think the rest of the PL sucks.

1.)Frankly, I would have been surprised if there was a debate. Basketball seems to be the only topic that motivates our “quite small” contingent of posters.
2.)Loyola wants to win it all again. In order to do that, they need to beat everyone in their path. It really doesn’t matter that much where they meet them. I’m rooting for them.
3.)The fact is that, other than Loyola, the Patriot League did suck this year. We were arguably the 2nd best team in the league. We played an anemic OOC schedule and the were beaten by the only two teams we would consider writing home about (Yale and Princeton). Yale thrashed us. Frankly we held Loyola back with the seeding committee.

TMH is right about our OOC, I really thought we would be better than that.

I was actually referring to debate on the lax site, in the link. They had commentary on snubs, surprises, etc. – and the main article had nothing to say about Loyola’s seed.
I guess I’ve got some learning to do about lacrosse; the shallow pool of teams makes a difference, I suppose. I guess Army is our “bad loss” – but it doesn’t seem that bad. They just gave Notre Dame a good run. It does look like Army’s OOC was particularly bad; is Rutgers decent, historically? The others on their schedule looked pretty soft, to me.
I suppose our Nova win was no great shakes, given their final record. But their schedule looks like it was pretty brutal. To be more highly regarded, what do we need? An ACC game or two, you think?
The article seems to indicate Hofstra was a semi-snub. I’m struggling to see why, comparing their results to ours, they’d get higher regard…
