Need some help …former player

I have been a fan of Hawk football for a long time…..but maybe not long enough!
The other day I happened to catch an online article about the Millersville Univ QB, JJ Paige. I now live in the Lancaster area, so I do follow some local schools here as well.
He mentioned that his father, Jeff Paige, was a record setting QB at Lehigh and went on to play for the Denver Broncos. I know quite a few Hawks have had big league opportunities, but I didn’t recognize his name. So I tried to Google, then tried various other searches and I couldn’t even find this guy at all.
Does anyone recall a JJ or Jeff Paige as the QB, probably from the late 70’s-early 80’s?
This is really weird. No mention of any Lehigh players on the Broncos….ever.

He does not ring a bell. I’ve been to games since late 70’s and was a qb ’91-93. He’s not in the record books that I remember, Kempa, Semptimphelter, Borda, Stambaugh, Lum, McQuilkin, Sterrett, Harris, MGowan, Hall, Michalski, Semler all guys off top of my head in my lifetime, played behind Kempa and Sempti who both had went into NFl camps, Sempti stuch awhile with Dallas, and they were two of the best in my mind.

This seems to be a rather bizarre story. I have closely followed Lehigh FB since 1969. I can name every star QB since then and would recognize the name of every QB who never made it. Paige is not one of them. His name also does not show up on the Broncos all-time roster.

Thats what I was saying….his name not only doesn’t appear in LU sports, it doesn’t with Denver either…

Also, a Jeff Paige holds the record for “most interceptions thrown, returned for a touchdown” (7) in the 1988 season for the Chambersburg Cardinals in something called the American Football Association.

One in the same? I’m guessing unlikely. And the Jeff Paige who QB’d Chambersburg that year…..probably doesn’t want any reminders.

Did some looking thru old Medis Guides and South Mountaineers. No mention there of a Paige. While memories can fade, I can name most every QB who got on the field for us back to the early 60s. I dont remember a Paige.

I just saw that.. (the original article was edited).
However, claims of being a “record setting QB” and having been a member (active, reserve, injured, practice squad et al) of the Denver Broncos is not merely an honest mistake. “My dad threw 25 TD passes in one season, when it was really 24″…ok that would be an honest mistake. Saying he was on the team and a “record setter” at that,….sorry…that’s a total lie. You can’t just say or write something and not be subjected to some fact finding.
I don’t want to beat this dead horse. Obviously someone here or at Millersville felt the same and contacted the writer of the article. And that’s all I have to say about that..!!!!!

I didn’t see the original Millersville bio (since edited, apparently), but assuming that there was something about record-setting Lehigh passer, Denver Broncos, etc., there was obviously something wrong there because the history at starting QB from the mid-1970s to mid-1980s is pretty well-established: Steve Kreider, Kim McQuilken, Larry Michalski, Tony Semler/Bill Rambo, Marty Horn. If Paige was on the roster during this time, and I’m not saying he wasn’t, he would have been a backup.
