Lehigh head football coach Andy Coen has announced the addition of Sal DeWalt to the Mountain Hawks coaching staff. DeWalt, a 2006 graduate of nearby Moravian College will assist in coaching Lehigh’s offensive line and also work with the tight ends. “I am excited to announce Sal as a member of our staff,” Coen explained. “He comes highly recommended as a football coach and as a person.” He continued, “In the short time he has been with us, I am impressed and I know he will help us as we work towards our goal of winning a ninth Patriot League championship.”

DeWalt arrives at Lehigh from Moravian following a three-year stint at his alma mater as the offensive line coach and video coordinator. Among his duties with the Greyhounds, DeWalt was responsible for practice planning, play installation, personnel decisions, tape review, instruction, recruiting and oversight of in-season weight lifting. Two of DeWalt’s linemen earned All-Conference honors in 2008 for an offense that averaged over 200 yards rushing per game.

DeWalt was a two-time captain during his undergrad days at Moravian. He earned a pair of First-Team All-Conference accolades as an offensive lineman as well as two All-Region selections. DeWalt graduated from Moravian in 2006 with a degree in sociology

Moravian runs a very good program. HC Scot Dapp is well respected throughout the country and spending 7 years in that program as a player and coach should have been great preparation. Here’s hoping for great things!

It also would appear that our new offensive line coach is going to have some pretty good material to work with.
