OK,time to look ahead. The Ivies.for 3 weeks. None of whom have talent approaching that we faced last game.
Penn. A truly bad team last year at home in their season opener. A game we should win easily. This game will give us a much clearer picture of our team vs a squad with at best comparable talent. A must win.
Princeton. A roster of 123 players but no returning QB. A very talented team. Surace has recruited very well. Their 2nd game. Open with Pards this Sat.
Yale. No Varga but return practically everyone else.Revenge game for us at home.
IMO,we have to win 2 of 3 to have a chance at a winning season.

I hate to state the obvious here but I am fairly certain that Andy Coen has one (6-5) winning record without Dave Checcini. His defense without Kotulski is also horrible.

After a succession of losing seasons, DC came in, surveyed the QB situation and immediately decided that the kid on the bench was superior. That meant that a two-time MVP of the Lafayette game went to the pine. Meanwhile, the new QB led the way. On D, Kotulski’s teams were competitive. Can’t say that about the last two seasons.

Summing up, Andy appears to be as good as his assistants, especially the coordinators. Better beef up the pay grade to attract and retain top notch coaches.

Penn was weak last few years, are they on the up swing or still stuck in neutral? can’t wait for LFNs review

There is little choice than to be optimistic and confident. No one wishes to be naysayer – until the grim reality of a next poor game settles in.

Must win for Lehigh. Penn certainly does not have the players they did a few years ago. They are in a coaching transition and it’s their first game where many mistakes usually occur. We have to be ready to take advantage of the mistakes. No lost opportunities. I look for the D to reassert itself. Secondary has to improve–especially on the tackling, though that could be said for most of the D last Saturday. Atrocious and hard to believe at this level.

As LFN noted in his nice piece, JMU should have been a wake up call to both the players and the coaches. We were disrespected by JMU, and perhaps we earned that disrespect by the way we played. Time to man-up and get back to tough Lehigh defense and some creative offense. No better team than Penn to get back on the right track.

Think the players will manup. One of the advantages of a young team. Staff needs to bolster ther confidence and have lots of bulldogs and tackling drills.
For me, I have detested Penn for over 50 years.
