Interesting and revealing thread on Pard Board detailing LU-LC rivalry. I recount it here not to disparage LC but rather as a warning for us “There but for the Grace of God go I”.
Andy has done a sterling job tallying the past years and current expenses of the 2 schools.

    Cuurent 23-6

    10-11 26-4

    9-10 23-8

    8-9 22-8-1

    7-8 14-17

    6-7 17-13

    5-6 24-10

    Student Ath aid LU 9.3M
    LC 6.8M

    Total Ath. Spending LU 26.6M
    LC 15.2M

I am an old bastard so I lived thru decades when the roles were reversed. I am truly thankful that we have an excellent AD and an Admin that supports Athletics.
That can change in a heartbeat. The same forces that sacked LC sports and to a certain extent the entire personality of Lafayette are not unknown at Lehigh.
Just some info to keep in mind and look out for

Gee Rich, and I always thought of you as an old gentleman.

Things do look glum over at the Easton junior college. Feel bad for Carney and Bogie, their hearts on their sleeves.

Thanks for the compliment, wish it were true. I can feel for Pards . I remember vividly when the only sport that won for us was wrestling. Would liketo see them do better ( altho not against us)

I know this is a football thread, but having attended from 1968-1972, I can attest at how tough things were in athletics at that time. Gerry Lehman & wrestling were in decline, football had just gone through dreadful seasons after Bill Leckonby, and the basketball team was bad. As a student, I didn’t realize how bad basketball was. And continued to be historically bad until Fran McCaffery. Between 1929 and 1980, Lehigh had 3 winning basketball seasons. Three! There were no coaches with winning career records between Charles Lingle (13-1 in 1925-1926, his only season) and McCaffery (49-36 1985-1988). Even Pettie Carril coudn’t win here. Steck ran great intramural programs, but apparently nothing else in athletics (except wrestling) got much attention from the administration.

I predate you by a few. When I came in Leckonby still the football coach. Who knew that 2 yrs later we would “deemphasize “football.
