Interesting article by Groller on Robb. He has been moved back outside behind Campbell. Ripanti inside on 1s? Would live to see a 2 deep. Hope we dont have to wait til JMU game notes.

Sounds like Campbell, Verdon, Robb, Mitchell at OLB. Ripanti, Caslow, Kondas, Kauffman at ILB. Throw in Mahoney, Gonos & Harvey and that’s all the upperclass LB’s. No superstars but solid depth. If healthy all can contribute on ST. They have all played before so decent experience too.

Looks good. I’m guessing that Ripanti will be in rotation per Andy’comment during camp that he wanted Campbell and Ripanti on the field together. Now if we can find better play from the Dline.

FYI: Work has started on the new softball field & New Athletic field house….now all we need is the baseball field, soon.
Softball is hoping to play on the field come spring…Good Luck.

Recently talked with Fran….baseball and softball are to be done together. Both are expected to be ready by spring.

Does it bother anyone else how light our linebackers are. They probably average about 210. That’s where our safeties should be. Just my opinion.

    TMH,
I noted that a couple months ago when looking over the roster. LU had BIG LB’s from 2009-2012. Last year and now this season they’ve gotten increasingly smaller, ala the DLine. Rich said he’s confident the overall depth and athleticism of the bunch will even things out. I still can’t help but think the D is going to get pushed around a time or two given the lack of size within the front 7….

well if they’re undersized (and they are), they better be quick

Owl has a point. Not that long ago the 4 LBs avged out over 230. This bunch is very quick and athletic but ,as happened last yr,unless DL can create pressure, the LBs will wear down quickly. Repetitive, but key is forcing OL to have to concentrate on our DL. I would like to see Harvey and Kauffman in the rotation. If Ss have to crash up again we are in for a long year. ILBs have to make majority of tackles but doesn’t help if they make them 8-9 yds down the field.
That said,I do have confidence in Botts to run a much better D.I expect to see so and fr in the DL rotation early.Well hopig more accurate. None of the so. got much opportunity to play last yr.

TU Owl, I agree. D should be better (can’t be much worse) but won’t be good enough to win 8+ games. O will take a step back this year and won’t be able to win any shootouts like Cent Conn, Princeton, UNH games from last year.

I know I’ve said it before, but if this team wins 7 or 8 games, the players have done a FANTASTIC job and the staff deserve raises!

The players last season did a Fantastic job winning 8 games with internal issues at many coaching spots. There is more talent returning this season and hopefully a better continuity between the staff. Anything less than 7-8 wins would be disturbing to many close to the program. If Shaf (or another) can ALMOST duplicate what BB and a few of the other 1st year starters accomplished, then this could be a special year. Its all about heart and who steps up.

I sort of fall between you and cobbler,at 7 for a successful transition yr. 8-3 a good yr but for Pard and Bison debacles. D did not a stellar year. Some good periods and some clucth plays, but overall bad most of the season. Schedule much harder this yr. D will be better. O has potential. Much like last year. Other than Lee,who really expected BB and Keith to star. Perhaps we will find similar magic this yr. Andy very high on frosh but hasn’t said much about sophs ,other than Nick. Lots of ifs and maybes but I agree also a lot more talent.
On a lighter note,Nick asserting himself as the QB ,feeding his OL at his folk’s house. :)

Don’t post things that may be against NCAA rules. Not sure how that works involving the parents????????????? Parents and Boosters have been told not to do many things for recruits and current player. Not sure how it all works. It’s not Dan Marino buying isotoner gloves for his lineman
