    Why did they lose?
    – coaching
    – last quarter (19-2)
Why did they not lose by more?
    – Taylor Campbell
To quote and paraphrase the late Dennis Green: “Villanova is what we thought they were, and we let them off the hook!”
Harry Perretta’s 5-Out Motion Offense. Duh!
You can even buy his book and DVD online for $39.99.
Team was so unprepared for it and it’s obvious that the kids had no clue what to do on the court. Freshmen are still playing AAU run and gun offense and LU came back when most of them were on the bench. Extremely talented kids but should not play together at all times.Rebounders sat for the entire game and others like KB and HP saw limited time. Then came the 4th quarter and a 19-2 run with no real adjustments. Peace out.

Cant comment other than on box score. 28% from the floor. Again a a puzzling rotation. KB 10 minutes?? Troyan said these games are learning experiences. For who?
Got it a very young team and this is going to be a very inconsistent year.
Dont understand how anyone learns teamwork when there are short minutes for most and apparently no set groups

    Ben,
I respect you opinion. Who are the rebounders you are referring to? Eripret?
Martins was supposed to be that person. McCloskey was our leading rebounder but she is lost for the season. Grundhoffer is really pretty good but she played a lot of minutes.

I’m still getting a handle on the women’s game. Women rarely leave their feet for whatever reason. Even Lexi didn’t really jump. Many of these girls got rebounds in HS simply because they were the tallest girl on the court. It seems to be mostly instincts which Lexi excelled at and I’m not sure you can teach that.
Assists to TOs are a nemesis but even when we were really good, that ratio was terrible. Very few women’s teams have an assist to TO ratio >1.1 to 1 (about 50 of 344)

Dont get the scattergun approah so far in setting a starting 5 and a bench rotation. Hard to build any chemistry with no one gtoup stayingbon the floor for more than a few minutes.

    Rich,
The starting five has been consistent. I wholly agree however that there is very little chemistry because the 1st substitution starts at about the 4 minute mark and just goes on from there.

Hence my confusion. Starters there for a bit. Thereafter we rarely see that same group again. Or any other grouping for very long.

I agree with Rich. Players 6 to whatever (12? 13?) can’t prove anything in the 2/3 minute rotation they get. Taylor Campbell took advantage of Mann’s concussion to show that she belongs there. And she’s been awesome on both sides of the court.
I’m really confused with the KB and HP’s treatment. Just don’t get it.
To answer the questions about rebounding, I believe that Williams, Menendez and Eripret can help in the paint. Their presence will, at least, force the opponent to think twice before driving the ball. But it’s just my unqualified opinion.

Preseason I thought Q Kayla and Taylor would be our best backbourt with Hedstrom and Pascoe first up and Bernie our shooter.

If its means anything, I am a Loyola graduate/fan and its almost the exact same for their womens team. Players, especially freshman, are allowed to go in, shoot, dribble around, hardly look to pass, dribble some more and play NO defense whatsoever. And the coach just talks about how “good” they are. Its really BAD BASKETBALL, and they allow it to fester. A kid hits a “3”, then lets her player get open, etc. and they are praised?
Take a look at Army. Got wiped out after graduation and he has them playing like champs!
I cannot accept bad coaching for what these people are being paid for…Oh well.
