Nothing yet. Rugg,Caslow and Yosha did not return.
What happens next?September 20, 2014 at 9:40 pm #15681Bright spots Leaks,Ripanti. Entire O played very well.OL pretty banged up by end of 3rd. Pelletier, Yosha and Leigh are the real deal. Nick a few WTF plays but overall a very good game.
Still cannot get my head around ineptness on D all season. We were bad last yr,how did we get so much worse?September 20, 2014 at 9:40 pm #15682There were no fewer than 8 injuries, including Caslow, Rugg, our starting C, Yosha, and even Leigh, who unexpectedly got a lot of PT, also seemed banged up.
Losing Caslow admittedly was enormous because without him our pass rush went from little to none.
September 20, 2014 at 10:08 pm #15683Listened to the broadcast on the LU network and watched it on the Ivy League network. During both the halftime interview and especially during the post game interview, Andy pretty much accused Yale of playing dirty – chopping the LU offensive linemen. Overall, he was pretty angry and frustrated during the post game interview.
September 20, 2014 at 10:19 pm #15684Game tapes need to be reviewed for cut blocking.
A couple penalties by LU were beyond stupid – away from the ball and lost the game.
Defense is obviously undersized, out manned, and out of positioned
September 20, 2014 at 10:25 pm #15685I would sit the whole defense besides leaks,Caslow, rip anti. It would send a message that the upperclassman play is not good enough. You can’t play that bad and keep your starting spots. Lehigh gave up 700 yds and 54 points to Yale(who had a td called back). Start the puppies, it can’t hurt.
September 20, 2014 at 10:31 pm #15686Reno infamous for cut blocking. Understand Andy being furious as it causes injuries, ie Rugg,Short. Didn’t lose us the game tho.

September 20, 2014 at 10:47 pm #15688Yes, the cut/chop blocking was a game changer and will screw LU for the season. It was obvious and took out at least four players.
September 21, 2014 at 4:57 pm #15694It is very difficult to understand how our defense could possibly be as bad as it appears to be. I believe we are now ranked dead last among all FCS teams. Is it possible that the athletes we have on defense are worse than any other FCS team? I would argue that the answer is no. Is it possible that the athletes we have on defense are worse than any other team in the Patriot League? Again, I would argue that the answer is no. If my answers to the above questions are correct, than the only explanation for our defense being this bad is poor coaching. Coen was obviously unhappy with the way our defense performed the last few years, so he made changes in an attempt to correct the problem. Our current defensive coordinator was successful in his previous stint as defense coordinator running a different defense system. Can someone please explain why Bottiglieri would continue to use a defensive system and philosophy which has been an unmitigated disaster, rather than the system he successfully ran in his first go around as DC.
September 21, 2014 at 5:37 pm #15696Got me. 3-4 worked with coach K. Hasn’t worked since he left. Perhaps since recruiting emphasized LBs? We certainly dont have a NG which is crucial.4-3? Well we have DL kds for that and a surplus of LBs. Change now? Again got me.
September 21, 2014 at 6:54 pm #15697I’ll be honest about the game. The effort is there from the players on both sides of the ball. I was hoping the excuse we were outmanned the first two games would not happen this week. Honestly, this game we were not outmanned but plan and simple outcoached. Our defense is horrible because of coaching or lack of it. Players look lost,or not sure of assignments, bad angles etc. THATS on the coaches. Leaks had a pick 6, but got picked on all day because he simply wouldn’t turn towards the ball. Ss’ do not react early, wait for ball to come to them. When we did blitz, didn’t look like stunt blitzes just simply running into the line. 5 offensive lineman can and did stop our vanilla schemes. I guess the 2 D coordinaters people bitched about last season would probably have us at 2-1 right now. Hope injured kids are ok,and we somehow regroup and rally.
September 21, 2014 at 7:15 pm #15698Actually hoping you would lie:). Agree tho, pretty sure we have better athletes out there than 4 yrs ago. Yale didn’t outphysical us on D . Injuries in 2nd half hurt. Big plays for 3rd week in a row tho is coaching not injuries. Players are not in correct position. Bad reads by them or poor coacing . Not a new D. Players on field know it. I have no answers.
September 23, 2014 at 5:46 pm #15727There is still time to salvage the season. We have not played a PL game yet. We have two weeks to get things worked out on defense. Too many hysterical people. Yes, the D has been awful, but I have seen teams start out poorly and adjust as the season goes along…I think a certain team down the road did that last year. I’m not giving up on these kids as some already have. You fight to win every week. Injuries should give some sophs and frosh opportunities this week to show something.
