Patriot League Steps Up on Opening Night
Six will face-off against teams ranked in KenPom’s Top 50 on Friday night. In fact, one of those teams, Navy, will stay at home. The other five will take to the road. As a whole, the League sports an opening night KenPom opponent ranking average of 69.8 (351 D-1 teams). Not bad. In fact, in terms of degree of difficulty, it just might be tops in the nation for any one league. I just got tired of doing the math when comparing the PL to what the other 31 Conferences (MEAC, SWAC, NE, etc.) have in mind for opening night. Regardless, nice work ADs and Coaches!

November 7, 2016 at 1:55 am #29227Will game be available ahywhere to stream
November 7, 2016 at 3:06 am #29233The game is scheduled to be live nationally on Fox College Sports Central and is listed on the FCS website’s weekly program sheet. Here in the Lehigh Valley Service Electric shows this as channel #166 on the Ultimate Digital package. I have Service Electric so I’m hopeful. If you have RCN I think you are out of luck.
Dish & Direct TV reportedly have it available. Other cable companies…??? I found this link to find FCS channels in various areas:
http://fcs.channelfinder.net/v2/framework.aspxAs far as streaming via internet…..????? Fox may have this exclusively….
November 7, 2016 at 2:34 pm #29240Optimum Cable subscribers in northern NJ’S can find it on Channel 250

It may require an upgrade in service package.
November 7, 2016 at 2:50 pm #29243I think we need to go to jimk72’s house to watch the game
November 7, 2016 at 2:58 pm #29245I’m on Time-Warner, and the game is available. But I will have to add a “sports pass” package to get it. I’ve had it in the past, just during hoops season; $10/month. Wife will be less than thrilled – ha!
November 8, 2016 at 12:50 am #29253Hopefully I’m not falling prey to pre-season optimism. To me Coach was far more exuberant than usual while discussing the newcomers in his annual coach speak at LUsports.com. None the less, Friday will tell us a lot playing against a top tier program.
November 8, 2016 at 2:33 am #29254One concern early is that Lieb is out for at least the first few weeks, and it sounds like Sedore may be out as well. He’s shown guarding TK in the video, but the story makes it sound like he isn’t healthy. That would make the squad super small after Kempton. Hopefully those guys can get healthy and contribute sooner rather than later, especially since rebounding has been a bit of an issue over the years.
November 8, 2016 at 5:22 am #29258Was anything mentioned on lieb?
November 8, 2016 at 1:16 pm #29260Nothing clear on timetable for Lieb; just that he’ll miss “at least the beginning of the season.” My take on Sedore is that he’s practicing, but not at full strength yet. I suspect that he’ll be available to back up TK, with limited minutes – but that’s just my take on it.
Article is good – gives us some idea of how rotations might be shaping up:After reading the article I continue to expect that MH will be the 5th starter. But I also think we’ll see some PA up front. Doc also sounded particularly high on JC2 among the new guys; in addition to backing up KR, we might seem some of him at the 2.
November 8, 2016 at 9:08 pm #29265Gotta love Coach Reed’s candor and the behind the scenes look into the players’ skill sets three days before opening tip. Some comments you might choose to call either surprising or uplifting (+++); others you may say carry with them a hint of concern (—-). I walked away most impressed with what he had to say about JC and PA, while a bit concerned over the thoughts expressed on BA and CS. All in all, however, a great player intro to the season!
JC +++ “Jordan will be more than competent if he were to back up Kahron Ross, but will likely also be pushing Kahron and could play in multiple positions if he continues his strong play,” said Reed.
PA +++/— “Pat has a game-changing skill, and that’s the ability to shoot the basketball. He does so comfortably and confidently from extended range. The pace, the tempo and the versatility of our offense give him a great platform to use those skills. He also has a pretty high basketball intellect and I could see him enhancing our overall teamwork, which is something that we really value, because of his ability to pass and read defensive situations.
BA — “With continued added maturity, we’re hopeful that he will continue to find ways to positively impact our team that go beyond his impressive ability to score.”
CS — Caleb hasn’t been at full strength yet, but we’re optimistic that it will take place shortly,” said Reed. “He will have to be extremely focused and will have to shorten his learning curve as much as possible because he has missed very valuable reps in our preseason and will be playing catch-up from a conditioning standpoint, from understanding his role and responsibilities and even just getting back to overall competitive basketball, which he’s been absent from for a while.”
November 10, 2016 at 1:28 am #29277What is Sedore’s injury? Is this new? He’s more than a year from his first injury. Should be healthy.
November 10, 2016 at 1:21 pm #29281I haven’t heard of any new injury for CS. I think this is just about getting back up to playing condition after a long rehab.
