Real Time RPI has 1-4 in the Patriot League Bucknell (140), Lafayette (141), American (145), and Lehigh (155). Let’s assume one of these four teams makes the tourney. Does the PL winner escape the PIG?

What if it’s BU (188) or Colgate (204)? Are they almost certainly PIG-bound if they win?

Right now Lunardi has Bucknell in the 16 PIG, behind UL-Monroe (118) and North Carolina Central (106). Sounds like we are rooting for upsets in the Sun Belt and MEAC tourneys.

I’m seeing PL winner in a PIG almost universally around the web. Granted, we don’t have a stand-out team this year, but how many first round wins is it gonna take for PL teams to get some cred?

Only thing that matters is the RPI. PIG for sure this year.

Not necessarily. Who is in the PIG is largely dependent on if the top seeds win the one big leagues. If enough lousy teams win their conference tournaments, they would take the PIG spots and open up a straight 16 for a team like Bucknell that would have 20 wins and an easily above .500 record. Since it is impossible to predict who will win a conference tournament, all the projections are assuming that the best team in the conference will win the respective tournaments – which (hopefully) is not how it will go down.

Agree with Stabler Bum. There are many scenarios where certain PL teams avoid the PIG. However you can make an argument that it is better to be in that game than have a different 15 or 16 seed.

When two of the projected 2 seeds are Kansas and Wisconsin, sign me up for a 15 seed.

Yes, the chance of beating Kansas or Wisconsin is a bit better but still very slim this year. The advantage of being in the PIG is that it counts as an official tournament win and also brings the league some money.
