Where was TJ going to find minutes as a fr? Dont see a bad omen there. KR,MS and CS.at PG. AP,CS and BA at SG. Very little left for anyone. Would’ve been great had he done so no doubt. Confidant he will be in rotation this year. What he does with that will be interesting . KL ,given his level of competition very likely to get major PT.
June 19, 2015 at 5:40 pm #20335Just for the sake of discussion, I would anticpate, KL taking on MMs role, backing up both the #1 and #2. I could see MH taking on CS’s minutes although not his role. Next year, we may have a pure #3 on a wing. Of course , BA is the wild card,if he begins to play like he had in some outings, he could be taking somebody’s minutes.
This is all speculation on my part.June 19, 2015 at 5:44 pm #20337Well,as to BA,MH bound to get bulk of 3 PT. BA time at 2 and 3? These are nice problems to have
Wish we had same issues with bigs.
June 19, 2015 at 6:19 pm #20338I’m not that worried about the bigs this year. Next year may be a different story. To the best of my knowledge, we have played with a small lineup ever since Doc took over the reins. I think he like it. Since CB was injured all year, we are going with the same set of bigs as last year while adding a 6-6 Holba and Sedore to give spot minutes. We have the luxury this year of having both KL and BA to push AP for #2 minutes. AP has rounded out his game since his freshman year but is still really streaky. We have very real options when he is having a down night. We can also go small at times at have either KL or BA play the other wing and move MH inside more. He is an absolute leaper and knows how to play both. I’m excited by the potential.
BTW, the situation in basketball this year is very much like men’s soccer which I’ll post on next.June 19, 2015 at 6:35 pm #20339Ih,I agree. Most bigs at our level not ready as frosh. Concerns me that JG and JC have zero behind them. Fine for next year. The year after? Sedore may be ready to spell Tim. No PFs at all for 4 . A frosh or MH and 3 Gs with TK?
June 19, 2015 at 8:00 pm #20340a lot riding on how good MH really is, if he is as good as advertised we should be in good shape for the next few years
June 19, 2015 at 8:11 pm #20341yes – as stated, recruiting imbalance between guards and post players in recent years. This year is ok as long as Tim K stays healthy this year and next – same about the power forwards. Then?
Holba is a big plus but not a BIG so, hopefully, the next year’s class attracts size.June 19, 2015 at 8:40 pm #20342really good big men like hens teeth in PL and with TK on board we are not gonna attract a high profile (per PL standards) big to play behind him for 2 years, now Sedore may turn out to be a pleasant surprise and he can earn minutes right away
June 19, 2015 at 9:13 pm #20343Think Sedore may get stronger and develop. He has the skills. My concern is not having any PFs. At this point the 4 will have to be filled by a frosh in 2 years. Or Doc goes with MH and TK and 3 Gs. If MH can rebound as well here as he did in HS might work. Would rather have a true big now to develop.
June 19, 2015 at 9:14 pm #20344Does anyone have any real idea how many scholarships are available for 2016?
June 19, 2015 at 9:45 pm #20345Doc does
June 19, 2015 at 9:49 pm #20346Best I can figure, it should be 4 for 2016. I’m hoping for 2 bigs, a 1, and a 2.
June 19, 2015 at 9:57 pm #203474 assuming Glover is a WO. One of those is available right now.
