[quote=21807]Do ANY of you guys ever look at the PAT.L stats .They must have it wrong because the LEADING PASSER in the PAT.L is SHAFNISKY so either they must have it wrong or you guys are just looking to blame him for the O being unable to generate a better attack .One guys says he looks at his WR’s ,another guys said he is a RB ,another said he runs to much . What is he supposed to do ??? Stand in the pocket and get sacked or maybe hurt and then you would be bitching why doesn’t run .Maybe if the O line blocked a LITTLE better he could stay in the pocket and throw ,but then again you need WR’s or TE’s or RB’s who can get SEPERATION from the D and then MAYBE he can throw the ball to an open guy .To have the LEHIGH QB leading the PAT.L and have people bitching that he is not doing his part is really sad .

Well stated. Unfortunately, the QB is the one who gets the heat when the team loses. Everyone made mistakes, but Shaf is a very athletic player but needs a few seconds to let things happen. If one has to start scrambling 2-3 seconds into a play finding a #3 and 4 receiver is fortunate.
September 16, 2015 at 4:32 am #21811With Jones out expect wr’ll see a lot of Montgomery and Redmond. Penn is likely to be a passing team. One returning RB with about 400 some odd yds. All the top WRs graduated but Torgeson a pretty decent passer. Better for us ,w/o TC we are not much of a run stuffing DL.
holy, kind of annoying when you cherry pick bits and pieces of posts to build a rant vs a point that no one ever made. No one is blaming Shaf for anyhing. The sole point iswhy is O so vanilla. One explanation offered was insights into how ppl closdr to the program view Shaf. If so,it does xplain short passing game .Blocking shortfalls can offer an explanation for that and keeping TE in to blick. The only knock on Shaf is that at present he is 95% of our O. He wont last the season at that level. OC has to come up with successful options to lessen our reliance on him alone. I think O will expand vs lesser competition at Pen.n. Princeton returns 10 starters on D.
Penn
OL needs to settle down and open holes and pass blck
Nick has to avoid happy feet so he can pass deeper.
As was pointed out.and we all saw vs JMU, an O limitd to short passes can move down the field. Nick crisper and more accurate this yr. Also,we have way fewer drps by WRs. As field compresses, the advantage swings to the D on shorter field to stop an O like ours so far.
Nick has passed very well so far. He doesn’need to get better,hd nedds to be in a position to go deeperSeptember 16, 2015 at 4:51 am #21812Wow you guys make some great points. I was at the game also and i 2nd the defense was playing well until those 3rd and long conversions. #26 gave up a long pass and I believe #1 also. I’m not gonna pick but if just seems like they just don’t compete out there. 1 play #26 got blocked so far out of bounds he was almost drinking there Gatorade on a bubble screen. #1 is a captain play this over in you guys head. To start the 3rd quarter we was driving and the whole team was up and the only player on the bench was #1… sitting alone. That’s our leader and team captain.. UMMMM, Play Montgomery and Redmond they competed in the spring game. I really believe the ready. Google Montgomery he was compared to Ed Reed by the Baltimore Sun paper. LMBO. Watched his film a pass break up demon. Cut them kids loose and lets Ball..
September 16, 2015 at 5:49 am #21813Rich I am not nitpicking and I am not ranting . What I am doing is reading all the comments and seeing the same thing written all the time . Shaf can’t throw ,Shaf runs to much ,Shaf needs to stay in the pocket ,Shaf needs to look for open WR’s ,Shaf has happy feet and on and on .Maybe he runs because that is the play that is called .Jmu sacked the Lehigh QB’s 7 times ,NS 5 BM 2 so HOW are the QB’s going to make everybody happy ??? Rich you seem to take everything that people write a liitle to personal .I only wrote a comment on what other guys were writing about nothing more and not trying to be a dick .

You are missing the point. We must have Shaf to win. What our O is now is evident. Lots of factors ,all noted by various posters.contribute to it. He is the hub of our O. At this rate ,not real likely he can last the season. In order.the OL has to be stabilized. Blocking must be improved in all areas. It helps that we are not going to face Ds with the same talent level. Nick needs less pressure to expand pass O. Or at least make it possible to do so. That is on Folmar.
Next Shaf has to get accept the added time to see all his options.
On paper we have all the tools to be a very good O. Up to players a.d staff to make it a reality.September 16, 2015 at 12:49 pm #21815Shafnisky is the entire offense right now hands down, and without him we might be 0-2. He has little to no time to throw every time, you can’t be successful if you are throwing from your back, and with his legs he’s very dynamic and makes things happen. He’s our best running back in the backfield and he can also throw better than you guys think if you give him time. The kid flat out has heart and has been the entire offense up to this point and is very far from being the problem with this offense. There is not a better option on that bench behind him
September 16, 2015 at 12:55 pm #21817No one disagrees. The issue is keeping him there. He is healthy now. There is no other viable option right now. O must be expanded. How is what I am speculating about.
September 16, 2015 at 1:00 pm #21818So ngineer you think the cbs playing are ready for “prime time”??? Are they the best we got???? you think the guys on the two deep can do worse???? you mean they might actually bat the ball down or fight off a block, how about this…..make a tackle! I’m not assuming these D coaches know anything, not when you throw one of the worst passing Ds in the country from last yr BACK out there this yr and hope something different! We blamed the Dline last yr on they performance, the dline gave us PLENTY of 3rd and longs, they blew it AGAIN. Wake up and make changes with those two, one will be back his Sr yr, is his spot AUTOMATIC because he started last yr and this one…hope not. What do you have to do to get benched here at LU, im sure they surpassed all requirements. All i heard was good things about Montgomery……heck some say Redmond had the best camp of all DBs……PLEASE BEAT PENN! P.S. i like Shaf, coaches are gonna get him hurt
September 16, 2015 at 1:10 pm #21819Per Philly.com article,Penn switching to a spread O. Pass D at a premium for Sat. I not Penn had the worst pass D in Ivies last year.
September 16, 2015 at 3:08 pm #21820Circling the wagons? No pregame video and repeating Rigaud’s minute from last week.
September 16, 2015 at 3:12 pm #21821They knew we were first game out the gate and have a lousy pass defense, we knew those Ivies were smart. I guess we got a game Sat, buckle up boys and get those keyboards ready! How ironic #1 featured this week, cant make this stuff up…LMAO!
September 16, 2015 at 3:25 pm #21824LG are you serious he is featured??? Lord help me!!!
where can I find it… I need a good laughSeptember 16, 2015 at 3:30 pm #21825Redmond made play after play when he got his chance,, he wasn’t either part of the travel plans at first, he forced there hands by being Savage all summer,, kid deserves a chance, why give Montgomery and Redmond 1 series a quarter to evaluate them and lets roll from there..
September 16, 2015 at 6:33 pm #21830September 16, 2015 at 7:07 pm #21833Rich had it right ,that was from last week .Maybe no pre game interview this week .Injuries starting to pile up . Hope replacements can play .Will need a good effort from the D to help beat PENN .
