Penn has much more financial aid for football than any PL team. Ivies have no scholarship limits. Only cap is Ivy rule that they cant bring in more than a rolling avg of 30 per yr over a 4 year span. Whhile termed need aid given income guidelines, one cannot denominate Ivies as a nonscholarship conferencr.September 16, 2016 at 2:08 am #28145I agree buck. We have 4 yrs of schollies and less stringent academic standards. Only Ivies that should give LU problems is HYP. All the rest we should beat.
September 16, 2016 at 2:28 am #28146LG likely you are right as to Cornell and Brown. Columbia with Bags a different scenario. Well see how that turns out.
The difference in academic stadards is minimal and really only is a factor for low band kids. The historic reputation of the Ivies is more a factor in competing with them. Every roster has 3 and 4 * star recruits with multiple P5 offers.
All IL teams match HYP offers. Moreover, need standards may be tighter at non HYP but their aid is still substantial.
All that said I think we can beat Penn. Lots of ifs.September 16, 2016 at 6:40 am #28147
Penn does not have a RB to match either MU or Nova. They do have a better QB than either.
This very well may be true, but I can remember RBs no one ever heard of that dominated LU defenses with career games the past few years.
I have no idea what will happen Saturday — likely to be a close game — maybe I’d give LU the edge.
But if the D gives up 400 yards again … c’mon. It was bad enough vs. Monmouth.
September 17, 2016 at 4:27 pm #28172Fearless prediction: Home field advantage allows Penn to squeak by 45-42. Hope I’m wrong.
September 17, 2016 at 10:16 pm #28173Gosh, 28-21 Penn with 1:14 left to go in half. Looks like D is heading toward another 400-yard day; offense hanging in there, despite an INT. Lehigh hoping to score …
September 17, 2016 at 10:32 pm #28174This looks like a carbon copy of last year’s Colgate game. The lack of defense place an insane amount of pressure on the offense to keep on scoring.
September 17, 2016 at 10:43 pm #28175Penn watched the game films and carved us up. You guys likely can see better than us. DL and ILBs have done very little so far.UP skill players are exceptional. Botts and staff must get this D going.
September 17, 2016 at 10:52 pm #28176LU D gives up 320 yards in the first half. They’re almost assured of giving up 400 for third game in a row (this year, including vs. lowly Monmouth).
The lack of D is really unfair to O and puts a lot of pressure on it.
The following is nothing personal, but …
You can blame the players all you want, but the DC is ultimately responsible for his unit’s performance. Win or lose, this kind of play is unacceptable. I don’t know how a DC whose team gives up 400 yards a game with a program that expects to compete in the FCS Top 20 can keep his job.
Let’s hope the second half makes me eat my words.

September 17, 2016 at 10:56 pm #28178Not doing so. DC has done little to me. Penn knows our D and is carving it up. Botts not adapting. Quick underneat passes under our coverages. Nova couldn’t pass Penn can.
September 17, 2016 at 11:48 pm #28179This game is certainly showing what can be happen when the defense makes stops. Don’t know what was said at halftime, but clearly the defense is playing much better in the 2nd half.
Also kudos to the special teams. The kick coverage has been exceptional.
September 17, 2016 at 11:53 pm #28180GIVE MAYES THE LAST 2 MINS.!!!!
September 18, 2016 at 12:04 am #28181Sound of me eating my words.
D STEPS UP!
Looks like it gave up maybe 60 yards in second half.
Offense dominant.
September 18, 2016 at 12:09 am #28182D had a great 2nd half. Staff brought the Ss down and we did more man mixed with zone. Adapted well. Harvey an absolute beast tiday. CC and Ripanti stoid up.
Howard was unreal in STs. Not surprised if he hadvdouble digit tackles.
Shaf was magnificent. Oh hell entire O was.September 18, 2016 at 12:13 am #28183Damn, that felt good.
