    [quote=22427]Miller,
I’m sorry if you are having trouble understanding this.
If the 2010 team had a terrible defense, they would have lost the majority of their games. Who would you have blamed, the offense? Would you have benched Lum…I hope not. Would you have fired Cecchini…I hope not. You would have missed an amazing 2011. This offense is every bit as good as the 2010 team. Both are averaging 23 ppg. Find the parts that don’t work and begin fixing it. You are wasting far too much time trying to fix things that aren’t broken.
Football requires chemistry. Chemistry requires consistency. I wonder how many people wanted Kevin Higgins fired. After all, he started out 5-5-1, 8-3, 5-6, 4-7. You must have been livid. Then they got a new defensive coordinator….you’ll never guess who and the team went 12-1, 10-2, 12-1.
Pete Lembo was the FCS Coach of the Year but that didn’t stop these boards from lighting up calling for his ouster. Were you one of them too? He then proceeded to turn around very bad bad Elon and Ball State programs before falling on some recent hard times. He was rewarded with a 5 year contract, making him the highest paid coach in the MAC.
All I’m asking for is patience and putting your focus where it belongs.

Just a reminder,we are playing Bucknell this week. Do think we might have beaten Yale game, our coaches and most of our players, not to mention a few posters, into bloody lifeless pulps.:-)
Can we now move on to the next game???

OK…..Bucknell with a great defense. It will be a challenge for our offense. Their offense is not that good, at least scoring points. Hopefully, that doesn’t change this week.

Hope you’re right about THIS offense. The 2010 team had 7 all league players on offense. Yes maybe we would have had a losing season if LUM , not Clark had never seen the field. Chemistry is exactly what happened at Harvard in 2010……….glad you remembered.

    Great stuff, TMH:

    More perspective on offense:

2010: 345 yards per game (including playoffs); 2015: 439 ypg

How did we get that offense:

    In air
    2010: 241 ypg 2015: 283 ypg

    Rush
    2010: 104 ypg 2015: 156 ypg

    # of plays per game
    2010: 67 2015: 73

Purely by the numbers, this year’s offense is better — so far —

The 2010 numbers including games against three ranked teams and a 31-10 loss against UNH

    One comparison that stands out.

In 2010, our QB averaged 4.7 rushes per game
In 2015, our QB averages 17.2 rushes per game

    Also
In 2010: 48 percent of our plays were rushing
In 2015: 55 percent of our plays have been rushing

Yes, the big difference is defense:
    2010: 345 ypg
2015: 475 ypg (but we get more plays per game)

Is it wise to have our now star QB run so much? He’s a great player; I just hope he can physically handle such a workload over 11 games.

The stats show that the offense is capable. But for stupid ass mistakes, we’d be 4-1. Should have put up 30 on Yale. Turnovers killed us at Princeton…despite the dreadful defense.

The focus on righting the ship is on defense. It always starts with defense. Until that is corrected we will be mediocre. Very much akin to the Hank Small era.

    Perception: Final Chapter

Prior to the Bucknell game, the Lehigh offense averaged 438 ypg and 23 ppg. In response the mob wanted to bench the QB, fire the AC.
In the Bucknell game , we scored 21 points and rolled up 421 yards. Sudenly, the comments center on how good they looked.

It’s amazing how good an offense can look when the defense plays really well. Now hopefully we can move on and enjoy the rest of the season.
Hint: Don’t expect to see the same defensive performance against Fordham in 2 weeks. It’s all about perception. :-)

Good points TMH. Think we may see the same D show up at Fordham. Dont expect the same success :). Rams have a much better QB and Edmonds. Rams D is not quite a chinese fire drill but not very good. Could be a Hank shoot out.

I think the focus will have to be on defensive frontal pressure in order to slow down Edmonds and pressue the QB. Defensive front will need to attack in all different directions causing penetration into the backfield to disrupt the running game. There will have to be some risk taking which could lead to some long gainers, but keeping the Ram O at 30 points or less will be key.

A laudable goal. If we get that a good chance to win.
