Of particular note was the fact that Navy senior starting forward Tom Lacy (good for 7ppg and 7 rpg) missed the game with an injury. Lacey had played in 79 consecutive games dating back to his freshman season before Friday’s contest. Will he be available tomorrow night? That’s the question!
As a reminder, Navy was picked to finish 3rd in the League’s Preseason Poll – one step ahead of Lehigh and behind 1st place Bucknell and 2nd place Boston U. The Midshipmen came out swinging in preseason play posting wins over: Pittsburgh (71-62), Bryant (79-71), Washington College (Md.) (110-45), St. Francis Brooklyn (85-76), Denver (79-71), Delaware (82-76), Morgan State (66-59), Coppin State (70-53) and Columbia (73-68).
With an 18-game schedule, you could argue all results are important. But, perhaps none more important than this one on Tuesday night.

Lacey suffered a sprained ankle late in their game with Lipscomb on the 21st when he landed on a defender’s foot. He was already playing with a bad ankle. It doesn’t appear to be a high ankle sprain, however, so there is a chance he could be back for this game.
Lacey is a key player for them – being one of the PL’s top rebounders. Last year he ranked 64th in the nation on offensive rebounds and 125th in defensive rebounding (Pomeroy), based on pct of available rebounds while he was in the game. Hasn’t done as well thus far, but is still 7th in the league in rebounds.

January 2, 2018 at 10:57 am #33378Other than the trip to Bucknell, this appears to be our toughest road opponent. Thank you 65 for your always in depth analysis. Could be a season changing upset if we could get it. Hopefully the Patriot League network is cranked up and working in this amazing cold spell.

January 2, 2018 at 7:10 pm #33380So my question, as usual, is whether we will play D for an entire game. Fingers crossed.
January 2, 2018 at 9:51 pm #33382trouble is that of the 5 guys on the floor it is usually the same one or two guys that loaf on D
January 3, 2018 at 12:28 am #33383I like Jordan in the starting lineup.
January 3, 2018 at 12:48 am #33384I love Cohen as a starter also. He’s the starting point next year for sure.
January 3, 2018 at 12:57 am #33387other than fouling 3 pt shooters the D has been very consistent, gotta do better against zone
January 3, 2018 at 1:07 am #33388Perimeter D still slow but we are playing D. Too many reach fouls on perimeter.
January 3, 2018 at 1:34 am #33389no clue how to defeat zone
January 3, 2018 at 1:41 am #33390pathetic finish
January 3, 2018 at 1:47 am #33391somebody hire a coach that can figure out how to beat a zone, duh
January 3, 2018 at 2:08 am #33392Great game. Tough effort clutch shots
UP until 5 minutes left and we folded up like a cheap napmin. Gassed is the excuse offered on twitter. Not impressed. Choked at the end of the game.January 3, 2018 at 3:08 am #33397I was at the game tonight. Good game by both teams over the first 35 minutes but Lehigh didn’t execute at either end in the final 5 minutes while Navy did. That happens sometimes.
