Looks like a long trip out to the UNI Unidome. Our chances of winning should be 50-50, and our reward would be a "near-home" game at Delaware, the #3 seed. JJH

We have done quite well vs MVCin the past. UNI a homer team , only one loss at home this year. UNI fans looking at us as a walkover, already talking about Delaware game. Very difficult to compare squads but I know we will show up. Hopefully better than we did on Sat. Need to play at same level at least as we did at Gate.

Hopefully, a situation like 2000, where Western Illinois and MVC-Gatway convinced NCAA that a Patriot league team did not deserve to host a game they could not win and could not draw as well in attendance. LU, of course won (about) 33-0 in front of 2800.

Still tough in a dome. I guess worst loss of the last 60+ years was at Idaho dome.

This is our second trip to Iowa this year!!

Northern Iowa, like Lehigh, has a strong wrestling tradition. Right after WWII UNI, which was called Iowa Teachers back then, had some great teams and won the NCAA team title in 1950. Gerry Leeman, who was Lehigh’s head wrestling coach for 18 years, won an NCAA individual title while at Northern Iowa.

Cedar Falls is not easy to get to, Des Moines is probably the closest major airport. I have been in the dome for a wrestling tournament that was using 18 mats.

Quick look at UNI, based on NCAA stats (http://web1.ncaa.org/football/exec/rank … 10&week=12):

Junior QB (110 ypg) leads team in rushing, which ranks eighth in nation — six places behind Colgate. He seems a little challenged on the passing side — eight picks and TDs each.

They stop the run well (No. 15); Lehigh’s No. 26. Pass efficiency D ranked 81 (somewhere betweren Holy Cross and Fordham), compared with LU’s 26.

Just based on stats, could be a game similar to LU-Colgate. LU traditionally has handled good-run, poor-pass teams well. I’d take LU and any points.

If they win and play at Delaware — all bets are off … could be a long day.
