Man this board is dead. Are you guys that down on the team this year?? Not a single post about the pre season polls out today. Have us fourth. Which I am very happy with. I figured we would be 4-5 in conf. We lost some key players. But I am excited about n what’s to come. And I been saying it and i will
Keep saying it. Kyle is going to have a big big year.

Given the fact that LU could not win even 1 PL title with TK, it’s difficult to get too excited with a team that has far less proven talent. At this point, it’s hope for the best.

Honestly I’m much more excited about the prospects for the wrestling team!

I’m awaiting the annual surprise commitment of a three star recruit. Its usually someone never mentioned as offered by us on Verbal Commits….. It’s interesting how Dr. Reed has a reputation on the Bucknell board as a great recruiter and lousy game day coach. This usually proves at least the former.

Lehigh wrestling is preseason #6, now that’s exciting. Would prefer they drop basketball and dedicated the savings to opening a kick ass Hooters on campus.

I too am hoping for a great campaign for wrestling. A repeat national champ? And one or two ore more aspiring for All American status…. And give PSU a run at the PPL Center. All on this board hope for that. Just a shame no one cares enough to post on this forum’s wrestling thread… for two weeks? And the only wrestling post is on the basketball board? I don’t get it.

PPL Center is a sell out with over 8,000 tickets sold. Excellent venue and great move by Lehigh moving this dual to accomodate more fans.

I’d be pretty happy with 4th. Think that might be a bit optimistic, with our lack of known big men on the roster. Hopefully, some of the younger guys emerge. Bucknell is a massive favorite this year, no doubt.

I’m hoping that maybe KL can reach up and become a 1st team all PL player. He should have plenty of opportunity. If he doesn’t make at least 2nd team, I will be disappointed.

Well, I guess we’ll finish 4th. The verdict is in! PL Coaches, KenPom, and SI all seem to agree. The trio also think that Bucky will run away and hide from the others with its closest competitor being either Boston U (98 pegs below Bucky in the eyes of SI) or Navy (78 steps down the ladder from Bucky per Mr. Pomeroy). Both KenPom and SI are in full agreement that the final three slots belong to: HC, AU, and LC.

From reading a number of earlier posts, it seems the number 4 is a popular choice in gauging the number of wins we might achieve during the pre-season. It makes perfect sense, barring an upset we should get by Marist, MSM, Siena and SF/PA. If you believe the preseason pollsters, our next best chance would be to surprise Monmouth or Pitt – both a true stretch. While our friends out in Lewisburg can claim to having more, it nice to see that Coach Reed and Company have managed to book four Top 100 opponents. Each will be a true test and an eye-opener for our young team. They are, of course: UVA (9), USC (12), Yale (84) and Princeton (88).

Like everyone else who has taken the time to post, I’m not expecting much in terms of W’s this year but can’t wait to see if just one – or hell maybe even two – of our of F/C’s (some we know only by their fashionable blue blazers and suit coats) can develop into a stud performer (not just serviceable) by the time we open League play. That dream, when combined with our seasoned and acknowledged superior guard play, can make for an interesting winter of ball come January and maybe even a threat come March.

Look forward to seeing you all at the Opener!

Over 9,000 tickets now sold. All-time attendance record for a home Lehigh wrestling match.

I wouldn’t take the games with Marist, MSM, Siena, and SF (PA) for granted. Pomeroy has LU winning 2.6 of the 4. LU will likely be an underdog at SF, who is the unanimous pick for #1 in the NEC. They return all five starters from last year. Siena lost four starters – but that might not be such a bad thing since they had major chemistry/morale problems last year. They have added a strong freshman class and return a POY candidate. As for MSM, they had three starters transfer (to Miami, Texas, and UNCW) and have 12 freshmen/redshirt freshmen on the roster. Still, Jamion Christian is a really good coach and I think LU will have to play well to win. Marist should be the easiest of the four, but they will be better than last year and not an easy team to beat in their home gym. If LU wins 3 of the 4, that will be a good outcome. Four wins would be unexpected and a spectacular result.

As for Pitt, I pointed out in another thread how weak they are this year with almost every player having left. They are a Pomeroy underdog vs Navy, and an LU win in that game would not be a big upset. Finally, Monmouth will be good this year but not as good as the last two years. An LU win at home would not be a surprise.

I am mildly optimistic particularly with what I’ve seen of Karnick on tape. But a winning season would be very positive considering all the newbees. I’m with Bison on not taking ANY game for granted. And who thought USC and Virginia were a good idea with this young a roster? Unless the staff thinks that highly of some of the young guns. Of course we’ll find a lot out Saturday night in Poughkeepsie.

USC and Virginia .. good idea?

Big $$$ games are always welcomed and when they serve as a “homecoming” for one or more of our players, it’s even a bigger and better deal. Just ask Kyle Leufroy and Jordan Cohen of Pasadena and Tarzana Cal, respectively. Coach Reed is a huge proponent of such games and is thought to be an attractive recruiting tool. As for a return trip to Virginia (there two years ago), i guess it was dollsrs only or a deal offered two years ago too good to refuse. We will never know. Anyway, playing a top 10 team is always newsworthy as we look to draw national attention to the Lehigh program.
