I actually enjoyed your post. It was nice to those names again.
HOWEVER, I would HAVE to find way to put Tom McGoey on that list at LB. For the years that I was fortunate enough to be involved with the program then, he was the leader/captain/whatever of the defense. In fact, Tom Gilmore mentioned numerous times over the years that he was the one player we wouldn’t/couldn’t function without!
March 25, 2010 at 12:41 pm #1960When I waslooking over all the various guys, some positions were easy to pick, on D it was lots of coin flips particularly at LB and DL. I took Graziani over Tom and abunch of others because of his story. Not the biggest ,most athletic or the fastest but his hard work and toughness have stayed with me over the years. Went from a squad guy to an All PL LB solely thru determination. Heck on D youcould pick a 2nd team with no realdifference between the 2 teams.

So true about "Graz". But I agree that it would be good too to have McGeoy on there. Did Brett Snyder graduate after the ’98 season? If so – no disrespect to Greg Fay – but I’d include Brett on that all-decade team if so.
March 25, 2010 at 4:01 pm #1962Not sure on Brett but I think he graduated prior to 2000.
When does Spring practice start? B-W game on the 24th so it s/b soon. Need my Spring prospectus fix!
March 26, 2010 at 1:38 am #1963Hard to argue with any of the above, though Rackley gets a close look with two all-american years on OL. Special teams? Punting goes to Leo. Very consistent and really developed into a weapon his last two years. PK–tougher call, but I go with Douglas who set school record with 51 yarder at Colgate and his clutch 45+yard kicks to force and then win OT at Fordham.
March 26, 2010 at 11:42 am #1964Rackley s/b on the list but I figured he would make the list for this decade.
 Clear that SID reads the Forum as LU posted prelim on practice starting today.
One unsettling omission for wrs James Flynn not listed as one of the upcoming frosh. He is by far the best of the frosh wrs. We’ll see when they post prospectusReread article, no frosh listed so Flynn’s absence not yet a worry I hope

Yes, I don’t think the can officially list the incoming freshman on any roster until August when they actually enroll.
March 29, 2010 at 3:50 pm #1980Totally unscientific but when LU has 10 or more ex Qbs on roster ( 12 I think this year) and 25 or more HS team captains ( well more than that this yr) we have a very good season. Just some notes that I’ve made over the years. One of those meaningless stats that you hope are really true
March 29, 2010 at 5:55 pm #1981Don’t know for sure yet but I’m thinking that Flynn’s heading back to Cali. I’ll find out this week sometime. I really liked his promise, too, so if he’s gone that’s a disappointment.
However, Phil Winett is on the spring roster, which is encouraging. While he had a medical redshirt (and maybe even another on top of that) at his disposal, if he’s healthy that could be a real jet boost in the rotation in LU’s "D" line.

Yes, the return of Winett is huge if he’s physically capable. He played a lot as a freshman and was looking like force for the future. Two years in a row of bad injuries in August curtailed that. Not sure if he can ‘bank’ more than one medical redshirt, but technically he’ll be on only his second year of eligibility.
March 30, 2010 at 3:26 pm #1988For medical issues I think student can go up to 6 yrs of eligibility
March 31, 2010 at 3:30 am #1989Well, if the money is there, Phil can get a second bachelors or a masters degree!
