Preach Bro, Preach
dead on with that, way to many 3rd and long and cant get off the field, the coordinators are hiding those DBs in zone coverage PERIOD… if they cant cover then rotate them at least, I see rotation of DBs on the regular watching college FB every Saturday.. we need to focus on 5 DL in the next class the most of all some big fatties if we going to play this 3-3-5, ?? Where is the exotic blitzing we heard about?? the only blitzing I saw was #5 coming off the edge which he didn’t even come close to getting a sack,, the defense is so Vanilla, we line up in the same package every single play,, SMHSeptember 28, 2015 at 1:07 pm #22147LG
With schollies we win more vs the Ivies. Doubt PL will win most. IMO
our competition is the CAA and MAC. Not unusual now to see numerous offers to our recruits from these schools. While Army and Navy may not have the same luster they are FBS. I trust the evaluations of multiple coaching staffs more than the stars from the recruiting sites.September 28, 2015 at 1:58 pm #22148Good article from Groller today on post game. The highlight, other than quoting our own Chuck, was the fact that Andy exploded at team ripping into them for the game performance. Groller noted that the last time Andy raged at team after a loss to UNH,team won 8 in a row. Hope,it works as well this year
September 28, 2015 at 4:12 pm #22150I agree Just A Fan, the D staff seems to LOVE the Dbs we have out there. Githens is finally getting his shot and look at him now. I say tote Montgomery, Redmond and some other Dbs out there and se what they got. I’m sure theyre hungry. This stuff wouldnt fly with better coaches, PERFORM or else. Thats how you create competition and make kids PERFORM. It seems as though our DBs know they have a starting job no matter how bad they are and how long theyre bad! once you get a starting job, its like the supreme court, its your for life.

September 28, 2015 at 5:31 pm #22152For all those who pined for the days of Air Lehigh
Shafnisky is #7 in the nation in passing yds
He is also #12 in completion % at 68.1%
Pelletier is T8 in receptionsSeptember 28, 2015 at 6:00 pm #22153Love the offensive stats but defense wins Chips Offense wins Monday morning dreaming…… I long for turnovers and sacks!!!
I want winners!!!!
September 28, 2015 at 6:20 pm #22154Leave TMH alone, hes a stats man. As long as we have great stats, who cares what the record is. How about them D stats TMH
September 28, 2015 at 6:27 pm #22155Just checked D stats, we are ranked 97th out of 123. yds per play…6.64. thats 108 out of 123. Pass D 93rd 259yds a game. rush D 87th 202yd a game…ouch
September 28, 2015 at 6:38 pm #22156LehighGuy,
Now you understand the value of stats :-). Go back to our original conversation on this thread. I told you that you can beat up on the defense all you want. That is where the problem is. My goal was imply to get you off the limited play calling sctick.Easy stat for you this time.
Lehigh is now 2-2. In their 2 losses they gave up 50+ points (actually to teams that are now a combined 6-0 and running up big scores on everyone). Get the defense straightened out and the the wins will come.September 28, 2015 at 6:44 pm #22157Now there you go
D stats are better than last year.
September 28, 2015 at 6:58 pm #22158LOL Rich,
Just looked at JMU this year. They are 4-0 including a win over a BCS team. They are averaging 50.25 ppg and 671 yards of offense. princeton put up 573 yds on their only other opponent. Both teams may be juggernauts.
This in no way is trying to downplay our pitiful defensive efforts, only trying to put it in perspective a little.September 28, 2015 at 7:13 pm #22159TIGGERS and JMU are excellent offensive teams. Getting trashed by JMU was not fun but they are just that good. No angst. TIGGERS annoys the hell out of me as we handed them the rout. That said dont see us facing any offenses comparable to those 2. Fordham and Yale likely the best wr’ll see the rest of the way. Nor do I see any dominant Ds coming our way.
Now for Yale.September 28, 2015 at 7:13 pm #22160OK, then. So the most glaring problem IS defense. Let’s fix that, if it’s even possible to do within 2 months.
Isn’t this improvement primarily on the back of the coaching staff? I mean, THIS coaching staff installed the new scheme and taught how it should be played. THIS coaching staff decided which players should be out on the field. THIS coaching staff called all the adjustments that needed to be made as each game played out.
The players ‘are what they are.’ They can’t learn ‘speed’ over the coming few weeks. They can’t add appreciable strength, nor much in the way of instinct and technique. A little bit, sure.
I agree, new people need to be tried as pass defenders. That’s for the coaches, too. Other positions? Maybe, YES. If only for a game, to get the attention of certain regulars.
The balance of this season will largely be determined by the COACHES, I think. I’m not expecting much, unfortunately. That Yankee Stadium disaster still lingers.
September 28, 2015 at 7:17 pm #22161The last time our defense played this badly, we promoted the defensive coordinator to head coach. That worked great
Just saying.
