I looked at most of our class of 2020s twitter accounts and did not find any mention of a call from the coaching staff after signing. How much does it cost NOT to make the call? How about the video that we posted about the class? It was ok IMO but not very exciting. Look at these two PA schools and what they posted:

The cost of not doing these things right is very high in todays social media world. We could have grabbed a lot of excitement for and about the program with some simple videos and calls. Maybe we did make calls but none of the class of 20202 found it exciting enough to post? Nor did we? I also looked at the coaching staffs accounts and did not see anything. In fact they don’t really post much at all.

Can we see some excitement? maybe a pick of the staff when the first fax came in? Maybe a high five, or a smile?

I’m not really sure what you are inferring here. Is it that our coaches did not call our recruits or that we didn’t do a fine enough job broadcasting it?
I actually thought the staff did a fine job with the paste ups prior to the signings and the individual signed announcements after.

Lehigh does not invest much into the sports media. We have a thin staff. Steve Lomangino does a fine job, but I think is spread too thin. We have a lot of varsity sports for a small school, but we don’t market like the big schools as I think it is the school’s mentality about ‘over doing’ the glorification of jocks. Athletics “has its place” as part of a Lehigh education, but it is not the driver. That is just an observation for good or bad. I am pretty sure all of the commits got phone calls from the coaches. We just don’t “Madison Avenue” it.

Sports marketing will be outsourced beginning the next academic year.

BTW, are there cocktails before the banquet tomorrow or does everything start at 1:00. I’ll see you there.

I agree with your points here. I also read all these posts about the players not being good enough or the coaching staff not being good enough and this is a low cost way to help.

Perhaps the coaching staff could work with a senior level marketing class to develop and execute a marketing campaign to hype the recruiting process through NLI signings. Gain valuable media development and execution experience and classroom credit.

I don’t recall if the ‘senior reception’ is at 2 p.m. or the dinner is at 2 p.m. I cannot attend this year due to my granddaughter’s birthday. First time I’m missing this in about 15 years. Date and time very odd.

Andy interviewed at half time of MBB game and talked about adding walk ons, said the punter decommitted two days before signing, specifically mentioned getting a punter in this class

That punter was Taylor Sheets who got a full ride to Buffalo

The highlight video for the class is up. Very well done.
Not surecwhat calling recruits after signing accomplishes. Most of these guys have ceremoies at theor school. Which seems to be the highlight of their day.
Their is little doubt that Steve and Justin are stretched very thin covering all of Lehigh’s sports. One or the other is at just about every evemt all year. A daunting task. They do a remarkable job.
Glad that we have hired a Sports Marketing. In todaytoday’s world it is crucial and in reality not a part of Steve’s job
