If AC is looking for WOs at this point, it is confirmation that he did not get it done and, obviously not at DL and LB which were the biggest needs.
He was out recruited – period and the excuse of the size of last year’s class is exactly that – an excuse.February 8, 2016 at 1:50 pm #25336A bit of a myopic view of recruiting. DL? Prendergast a 3* DR. Nace a 1st team A-S DT from Fla. More would have been nice but with the PL caps not feasible.
Outrecruited? Every year we start out with a list of approx 300 qualified players. Most of the offers that we lost were to FBS full rides. We won a bunch vs them also. Sherts flipped 3 days before NSD for a full ride to Buffalo.
To focus on who we didn’t get is deceptive as no one gets all the kids offered. In fact it is impossible. We know of over 50 LU offers.
Andy brought in an excellent class most of whom held FBS and/ or CAA offers.February 8, 2016 at 2:21 pm #25337HAWK 2 does not understand PL rules on roster size, PL limits roster of recruited players but does allow an additional 3 WOs, by definition WOs cannot be recruited, so one cannot be out-recruited for WOs
someone should link PL rules for HAWK2, so he could get knowledgable
February 9, 2016 at 3:45 am #25363Does anyone really know how many kids will be on the roster next year? Rhetorical question.
Tons of factors out there, not the least of which is the allegedly criminal silliness of last semester.
Also, there are still some good players out there — and recruiting is a crap shoot anyway. The best ballplayers likely are headed to FBS, and there are a ton of qualified to play at FCS — many of whom will never make it past DIII or DII for all sorts of reasons.
None of us really know what AC will pull out of his hat (unless one of us is AC or someone really close to him).
February 9, 2016 at 4:38 am #25364WOs that can contribute on the field are not easy to come by. You need a lot of good luck hopung a kud passed up by many will develop into a player. A real high need kid who wants Lehigh and can play We guarantee to meet 100% of need, so we might get a good kid with a shot. The flip side is a no need kud who can play and couldn’t get into GU

Look at the LB situation. After the coming season, there will be four remaining including the 2 in this class. Plus, they lack size. This is on a team that is getting hammered by opponent’s running game.
And you don’t think this is a problem?February 9, 2016 at 1:46 pm #25367Hawkineer2,
I think you may be assuming that none of the players involved in the attack will be back. I don’t think that is true. This recruiting class may reflect that.
The 2015 recruiting class included 5 linebackers alone. All of them came with very good credentials…..Buskirk, Morrow, Olshanski, Walker and Scott. The latter 2 are not currently on the roster but I suspect will be back in school in fall (although I honestly don’t now for certain).
I hope that allays your fears.February 9, 2016 at 1:48 pm #25368Here is the 2015 recruiting class

February 9, 2016 at 2:12 pm #25369Interesting fact from the banquet. The outgoing class began with 24 recruits. Only 14 made it to the end although one was dismissed after the football season. So if people keep wondering why the class is so small, it’s because we replaced most of those guys last year.
I also got the sense that there are no planned changes to the coaching staff.February 9, 2016 at 2:42 pm #25372I count 10 or 11 LBs (Morrow a LB or DL?) on the current roster + the 2 incoming recruits with 4 to graduate and 2 off roster that may be reinstated. So my math says that after the coming season, there will be at least 8 remaining and possibly 10 + next year recruits
Hawk2, please check my math as I am old and may be slipping

February 9, 2016 at 10:22 pm #25381recruiting at the FCS level is tricky. You never really know what you have until years later. Many of our better players recently, the ones that make plays and all league teams were not high in our class. We should be able to recruit more **ed players with schollies, but unless you have a 5*/4*/3* next to your name, the rest of the field really is unpredictable. As far as coaching staff……..when do we decide to make changes? Eventually, Andy will have to get rid of a few to save his job for a couple years. I heard one my leave on his own for other opportunities.
February 10, 2016 at 2:08 am #25390The dominos are still falling and the stars always aren’t the stars.
Three kids I know of this year:
1) Not on LU’s radar though he had decent grades and chatted with other PL teams. Not that highly rated, but a CAA team picked him up.
2) Relatively highly rated athlete who started only one year in HS. Good student looked at by PL did not sign on signing day. Could have signed with FCS school, but held out for a MAC offer. Still not signed, but close.
3) Specialist recruited by a top academic FBS school, then told the school had selected a specialist. So this kid dropped to nearly signing with a D-II school. As of signing day, the FBS school’s No. 1 pick changed his mind and the other specialist was called back for an offer — but after signing day.
There’s a trickle-down effect.
February 15, 2016 at 2:42 pm #25501Regardless of location, our country unites to cheer on the Canadian teams that make it to the playoffs each year, rick willianen. And when you add our National Hockey team to the equation, you can feel the tangible unity throughout the country.
