So far a QB,2ILBs and an OG. What positions are most in need of emphasis in this year’s class?

How about some FAST ,TALL wide receivers ,fast ,quick RB’s and some big quick defensive linemen and linebackers .Maybe a couple of good DB’s would be ok .

My wish list would start with size on defense. I want DL in the 250-260 range and LBs in the 230-240 range. We are simply being dominated at the line of scrimage and that sets everything else up for failure.

TMH I would like our DL to be 280 to300 ,6’2 to 6’4 and be agile and quick .I agree with you about our DL’s and LB’s being pushed around by big OF linemen of the other teams . All the evidence of this ,go to the PATRIOT LEAGUE standings and STATS and you will see LEHIGH is DEAD LAST in all Defensive STATS .

I guess it is just a wish list but I’m a realist. Penn State has 2 DT in the range you stated. Everyone else I believe is 260 and under. There is not an overabundance of DL with that kind of size and quickness. They get scooped up quickly.
Right now our DL are mostly in the 230-250 range. Our starting LB are around 210-220. I’ll be happy with the size range I indicated. Put an extra 10# of muscle on him and let him have an attitude. :-)

Size would be nice with strength. Some of our best DL guys were 250 and less,Morga,Gregorek,Crowe et al.

Wow good question Rich, given this years results we have needs in a lot of places. And with the reduced roster # it is hard to load up any one position

My usual thought is you target recruits to replace this year’s juniors so that when they are sophs they are ready to step in

however we need to find some DL that have size enough to step in as Frosh as noted by others

and since Brown and Kee have yet to contribute and Yosha has had injury issues, we need a RB that is able to contribute as a Frosh

light class of OL last year makes OL a priority

7 of 8 DB’s on 2 deep are SR and JR, so a DB that is ready to contribute as a Frosh would be nice

LB might be our area of least need based on contributions of this years sophs and expectations for McCain and Coffman, but then LBs are also important to special teams, so ….

Actually “van” we have a soph and fresh on the 2 deep for DBs. for some reason they have Leaks listed as a Sr. We had 5 total DBs in this freshman class, only #20 plays. #22 and #25 look impressive though for next yr. We also have the Steven Brown (Fresh) kid who got sick before reporting to camp this yr. He will be a freshman next yr. Agree we could use about 2 more CBs and bigger DL.

DL will have size with Cavenas,Palma,Johnson,Mitchell and Gille. Hopefully Brad Smith develops. Going to need depth.
As far as I can see,we have a 2 deep returning. I would go for the best athletes we can recruit at any position. Altho,a LS seems to have become a priority.

Yep, knew Leaks was a Soph, my bad, but my premise still holds with 6 of 8 leaving in next 2 classes

I think you need to look for size and speed on the DL and OL always. I would never give money to a skilled player before an OL or DL prospect unless they were a can’t miss game changer.Adequate RBs, WRs, and DBs can be found all over. For example, basketball team might just have best WR on campus. Size and speed on DL,OL is formula for championships at any level.

There are only 15 scholarships and 4 are taken. So 11 left. People want to load up on linemen. How many of the 11 scholarships are going to OL? DL? DB? I saw someone said K too? Oh and LU needs some “FAST, TALL” WR. How many of the 11 remaining scholarships are being used on them?

Wish list should not just be about needs, but also about availability. Scholarship class sizes have been 19 & 20. Tells me on the high end, 12-13 guys are getting full scholarships. Remaining 7-8 guys are partial scholarships or paying $60,000+ per year (can’t be easy to find families willing to do that). Assuming early commits are full scholarship, there are only 8 or 9 full scholarships left if you want enough bodies to field a team. Over 4 years that still only gets you 75-80 on the roster.

So my question to the guys that have all the answers in here, how are you dividing the remaining 11 scholarships across positions to have a recruiting class of 19 or 20 guys?
