Thankfully for the 1st time in a while topic is premature.
Needs
Even with Phil getting a medical redshirt, single biggest need is DL followed by OL. We are thin for quality depth at both.
as far as I can see no other glaring needs. Best athletes and speed as always. Looking at Coen’s classes , he brings in a balanced class covering most if not all spots. Of course if we run across a **** rb or qb we probably should try to get themI’ll start a prospect thread next week.
November 22, 2010 at 5:31 pm #2799What about the defensive secondary? Do we return anyone with experience?
November 22, 2010 at 5:57 pm #2801Yes, Andrews probably best athlete this year and a very good cover corner. Lots of kids got some time but we lose all starters but lots of quality depth plus some good frosh. Athletes and speed a must every year.
One note before I forget. LU offered a qb in Fl Juan Soto last year. Offer still open.
November 22, 2010 at 7:16 pm #2803Big unknown is which of this years Frosh are ready to step up next year.
Agree with Rich on D line being short on numbers, but quality is good with Winnett, Connare, Knapp, Bianchi and Chagani.
OL has good depth with at least twelve returning. Not sure of quality there since only Schauder missed any time this year.
Andrews, Johnson and Littlejohn all got time in secondary this year, maybe Newton moves to safety?
I think LB is a strength next year but also a big recruiting need, as it is likely that all four starters next year will be seniors.
Need a tight end, with only 3 returning.
Always need a RB and QB.
Other than D line, speed and athletes biggest need.
November 24, 2010 at 12:30 am #2824Do you think our success this year helps, hinders, or has no effect on the decision on athletic scholarships? We really looked under manned against New Hampshire & Villanova, as did the entire Patriot league out of conference in most case…. And though we ran the table, we rarely dominated in league. This question may be premature with Northern Iowa looming….. I hope we don’t get bown out……
November 25, 2010 at 2:51 am #2841I had a father of a prospective recruit come up to me after the game at Fisher Field. He, himself, had played for Delaware in the early ’70s. Son is psyched about coming to LU as an LB and was inspired by the play of Pierce and Groome. I think the kid is from The Hill School. Looked strong standing next to him.

So far my prospect list is up to the mid 50s. No time this week to put it all up. @ confirmed offers qb Fla and OL from NJ. There are more out there , of course, I will do my best to find any reports.
December 1, 2010 at 10:18 pm #2904Rich, thanks in advance for all the effort you put into this. Much appreciated!
December 2, 2010 at 4:17 am #2907We also need a kicker who can win games for us, not just keep us in them. In my neck of the woods, guys who can make touchbacks and kick 45+ yards half the time are a dime a dozen. Not all of the soccer players get to play futbol in college; they should be on the gridiron.
