First you had the FCS Coaches Poll, then the PL Head Coaches/Sports Information Directors Poll, and now to round out the preseason hoopla you have Jeff Sagarin’s (USA Today) 2009 Division I Preseason Football Ratings. Each projects a four team race with little separating HC, LU, CU and LC.

As for Sagarin, here are his numbers……………..

    DI Teams: 245
    DI Leagues: 27 (including Independents)

    League Rankings of Interest:
    Colonel #12 (Villanova)
    Ivy #18 (Princeton, Harvard, Yale)
    Patriot League #20
    NEC #25 (CCSU)

    PL Rankings (245 teams)

    LC 151
    HC 153
    LU 155
    CU 156
    FU 186
    BU 205
    GT 230

Based on the ratings Sagarin applies to each team, LU (52.96) and CCSU (39.89), the "projected" winner on Saturday is LU by 16. Don’t beat on it.

Your are correct. I would be very happy with a ‘comfortable’ 10 point win. CCSU has a very athletic team, triple option attack and will have, at times, two QBs on the field. Plus they have a pre-season all-american at TB. CCSU upset Georgia Southern a couple years ago…in Stateboro. ’nuff said.
