I am hopeful that we can recruit a true 5 to replace TK after the current season. I think a real selling point is playing time and walking in as a potential starter day 1 at the 5 spot. If you look at our last two centers, both GK and TK were starters from the minute they walked on campus, and started every game of their Lehigh careers. Both will also play professionally after their Lehigh careers. Huge selling point to recruits. Playing time and great track record. Doesn’t look like a 5 coming in the current recruiting class, from our offer list, but lure there of big minutes.

I don’t think our next Center on the roster yet. But, maybe one of the group develops and blossoms in that role.

We do lose TK after this year, but there are also 6’11 (Sedore) and 6’10 (Lieb) scholarship kids with freshman eligibility. Tough to write those kids off as non-starters before they ever played a minute.

We know virtually nothing about either, but Sedore is certainly big (just look at last year’s team photo), and Lieb had a pretty impressive offer list.

Very excited for this season to see what all these young forwards have to offer.

Trivia question. GK actually came off the bench in three games during his career. What player(s) started in his place on those three occasions?

Official stats on Lehighsports.com list GK as starting all but one game freshman year. I’m guessing Z. Carrington started at center in that one. The other two, ya got me…… Mineri might be a candidate.

I’m just chomping at the bit to see the new bigs – or even hear some observations. We seem to have a sense, on this board, that CS2 is more of a shooter than a post-player, but I have absolutely no idea where that comes from. I’ve never even seen video. And from the photos at lehighsports, Lieb appears to be really big – not just tall. Broad, with a body that could be a banger.
If nothing else, we currently have 4 guys on the roster at 6’10” plus – that’s amazing to me. That means all of them have guys that can challenge them in the paint in practice, every day. That’s fantastic, imo.

    I’m with Todd.
In the game of basketball today, a really good postup/center is a great luxury but not a necessity. There are so very few Kempton/Muscala/Knutsens out there at the mid major level. I’d be delighted with someone who will clog the middle, alter shots and grab rebounds. Lehigh is loaded with scorers IMO.
Sedore got a 3 pt reputation I’ll assume because he put up about 3/game in HS making 1.2. He also avg 22 pts and 14 boards at a very small program. He he were being asked to replace Kempton directly from Pulaski HS, that would have been a real problem. Since graduation though, he has added 15 pounds of muscle and he spent an entire year getting the cerebral part of college basketball down. He also has had probably 4-5 months working out with the best post man in the PL. And he still has another year to acclimate himself. I don’t harbor any illusions that he can step in and put up Kempton #s but I foresee him being very serviceable.
And he isn’t the only 6-10 scholarship player on the roster . Lieb is 6-10, 235# and has played at a very competitive level at Brewster. Injuries have been a problem but he also has another year to show the fans what he can do.
All of this however is just my opinion. :-)

My guess on the GK 3 non-starts of his career would be Senior Days in his first 3 seasons. As for the names, no idea.

Since GK did not start one game in his freshman, sophomore and junior season, you are probably right. If so, it would have Maneri in ’11-’12, Safstrom in 10-11 and the reall tricky one is Shamis in 09-10 since he was listed as starting 1 game that season. Hall, Carrington and Buchberger were all starters anyway and I suspect CJ was the 5th. That’s my guess and I’m sticking to it. :-)

Couple things of note. In latest photo of Lehigh players and alums, which was on site or Twitter site other day, CS looks huge. Significantly taller than TK although it might be the photo and spacing and angle.

I rewatched some Lieb video. It was old video from HS prior to injury and prior to PG year. He was rail thin and was scoring a lot from the 3 point line. I understand he may be 30-40 pounds heavier now. Hopefully, he will be looking to score more in post. He looks like a decent athlete for his size and was able to put ball on floor from the wing. He blocked a lot of shots in the video but he doesn’t look like a quick leaper. He was just significantly taller than competition.

I’m very curious to see Lieb and also Holba.

not to diminish Bucky game this week, but with Andree limping I was curious as to what we have for big men next year

Lieb and Sedore have yet to suit up, incoming Frosh?

Holba plays tough D but has yet to find his O

any thoughts from those closer to the program?

At this point, with no bigs coming in, I think Lieb is your starting center next season, unless they start small. Your two commits, to date, are both 6’4″. Unless they get Myles Johnson or Salisu Yahaya (who are both PF/C types), and that is probably doubtful.

I would say the following would be your starters:

    1 – Ross
    2 – Leufroy
    3 – Alston
    4 – Holba
    5 – Lieb

Although, I am leaving out Tejada, who may be the most talented player on the roster. So, I could envision a scenario, where they play small, and move Tejada in and Lieb out.

That would give us a bench of:

    PG – Cohen
    Wings – Andree, Bennett, Wilson
    Bigs – Lieb, Sedore, Wolf

Still have another scholarship spot to fill.

My bet is Doc will use his schollie for Johnson. If he opts for Cal Northridge or Fordham, he will keep it.
My guess is Tejada will be at 3. KL and KR at 2 and 1. Watching video Tejada works with the ball. Goid off the dribble, streaky shooter. Can he play off the ball?
Johnson raw but talented. Even if we get him,I think he sits

Tejada only 6’2″ and has been a PG his entire HS and college career. I don’t see him at the 3. Maybe move him off the ball in the backcourt, but he’s not guarding any 3’s.

I’m kind of surprised we haven’t drawn more interest from a solid HS big man. Track record at Lehigh has been really good with Gabe, then Tim, both 4 year starters. A guy coming in, who is decent, probably starts 100 games here.

Lance is out due to transferring correct? Or is he hurt. Also can someone post like or something of the kids coming in next year.
