Do we get a 14 seed or a 15 seed?
Lunardi’s latest 2 seed projections: Ohio State, Duke, Michigan St., Missouri
Lunardi’s latest 3 seed projections: Baylor, Michigan, G’Town, MarquetteOf this group, I want Michigan. Can we get a 14 seed?
March 8, 2012 at 5:16 am #5206Would love Michigan or Georgetown. Not so sure we will get that high of a seed though. As of now..I would say we are looking at a 15? Though even a 16 wouldn’t shock me as it stands. Couple upsets so we can move up…
March 8, 2012 at 5:24 am #5208We will have to wait for Bison137 to tell us where to go. He makes the call.
March 8, 2012 at 11:22 am #5212I think it is probably 75/25 15/14, unless we get a fwe more upsets I think we;’re a 15, praying for 14 because as I noted yesterday and again up above by lfn the 3 seeds are significantly worse then 2 seeds this year…IMO…I just checked and lunardi didn’t do an updated bracket last night after the games like he did Tuesday night, so keep on the watch for that, sure that will come out this morning, he probably got more sleep then I cause I woke up a few times with the ole brain working up matchups for round 1 ncaa….HOWEVER, just checked cbs and they have us a 15 vs osu….schnikes…don’t like that, sure CJ would like that but I don;t like that!
March 8, 2012 at 3:25 pm #5226Dumb question: where is Harvard in all of these bracket projections? It seems outlandish that they could be a 2-3 seed with the loaded bracket this year, but is their any conceivable way that a Harvard/Lehigh first round matchup could be forced, perhaps in a 5-12 scenario? While I’d love to play Duke or Michigan, I think playing Harvard would eclipse that, for me, in terms of excitement.
March 8, 2012 at 6:06 pm #5231ESPN has Harvard as an 11. They have a nice RPI of 36, only 4 losses and a big win vs. Florida St. Their OOC strength of schedule is 200+, so I’m guessing that is what really is pushing them down. Like Lehigh, a majority of their games were played against teams with 200+ RPI. Lehigh, though, played even more and OOC SOS was a putrid 328. Just awful. Some of it can’t be controlled as teams fluctuate (example: St. Peter’s and William and Mary went to NCAA and NIT, resepctively, two years ago, yet combined for 11 wins this year), but we have to schedule better games OOC, especially next year. A-10 not named Fordham, MAAC – Siena, Iona, etc., CAA – Drexel, Richmond, etc. I know I’m getting ahead of muself but the talent on this team is there to have a Harvard-type year and make a run at a solid seed. Of course, all this is assuming CJ stays.
March 8, 2012 at 6:21 pm #5232ESPN has us as a 14 right now, they slotted us right into where Bucknell was yesterday. Not so sure that will stay like that. We are 96 RPI, according to ESPN, at the moment. So some games today that we can root for:
Texas-Arlington, 15 seed, 99RPI. Southland semis vs. McNeese St. We shoul be ahead of any other team from that conference as Lamar is next at 123.
Nevada, 13 seed, 46 RPI. Opening round, WAC vs. San Jose St. We would need Nevada and New Mexico St (69 RPI) to lose in the WAC tourney to get any help. I’d have to think there is no way Nevada gets an at-large as they have 177 OOC SOS.
March 8, 2012 at 6:58 pm #523514 would be sweet. I think we will be a 15, and I think it would be fun to play the ACC power, who doesn’t get the #1 seed (North Carolina or Duke, probably depending on who wins the ACC tourney). Perhaps, in Greensboro? Kind of a selfish reason as my wife went to Carolina (got to brag on the lacrosse win), so that would be fun. Of course, if it’s Duke, she will be Lehigh’s #1 fan.
March 8, 2012 at 10:43 pm #5248Yes, lunardi has us at 14, but I say we need some additional help before I fully buy in. I want 14 bad, I think it ups upset percentages quite a bit over 15 seed.
March 9, 2012 at 3:02 am #525606 – nevada pumped out 13, thirteen, first half points and trail by ONE, only ONE….tx-arlington is also losing in first half…love to get both of these, settle for one of two tonight..beggers can’t be choosers.
March 9, 2012 at 11:54 am #5273Nevada won, but TX-Arlington got smoked, 1 for 2. We’ll take it. See what lunardi comes up with this morning, but other sites still show us as 15.
March 9, 2012 at 2:13 pm #5277Find myself watching Bball Live on ESPN and Davis on CBSS, I get a lot of the mid major games on various Fox and Comcast channels. I need PIP or 2 more TVs. Depending on Region seems we have outside shot at 14 but realistically 15 looks like the slot.We would need a tidal wave of upsets to do better. Gosh this is fun. Reminds me of the years with Queenan and Polaha.
March 9, 2012 at 5:10 pm #5280Ugly, ugly win for Nevada vs their 8 seed. Memories of LU-Navy back in 2004, luckily for Nevada they didn’t have to go to OT ha. Both Nevada and New Mex St. advanced in the WAC…we’d need both of them to go down for any help.
Kept an eye on the Arlington game as well…they were never really in it.
I trust Lunardi the most, he literally just updated..I guess it updates at noon? He has us as a 15 vs Duke in Greensboro. Not surprising we are a 15..I honestly think he didn’t put thought into yesterday’s bracket as he just slotted us into Bucknell’s spot. 3 of the 4 14’s are locked in. The other, Akron, is in the MAC. A loss by them really wouldn’t help us much as both Ohio and Buffalo are right behind Akron in RPI. All the 15’s are locked bids as well. So unless the WAC has a few upsets, looks like we will be a 15 boys.
And Duke? Sure I’ll take playing them. Greensboro on Friday…let’s just saw you might see some of us make that trip. The other 2’s are Mizzou, Ohio State and Michigan St. We would not ever get Mich St, as I understand, to avoid rematches. Mizzou I would not like, Ohio St, no real opinion. I do like that one of Duke’s key players, Kelly, is sitting out ACC…maybe he will be out longer, or at least not 100%. Duke plays at 7 tonight, I won’t be able to catch it, but I’m sure one of two of you other guys will have a chance. If you do, might as well throw some observations out. Can’t wait til Sunday.
March 9, 2012 at 5:27 pm #5281I have seen a lot of Duke this season, and that is a matchup I wouldn’t mind. I saw them in person lose at Temple early in the season, then a few ACC games on TV, including the 2 Carolina games. They are not bursting with athletes on that squad, which is why a super-athletic Carolina had an easy time with them at Cameron recently. Not a vintage Duke team in any way. They are a guard-oriented team led by Austin Rivers and Seth Curry. Curry is a lot like his brother (Steph) and father (Dell), most effective as a stand still jump shooter. Rivers is a very good PG, but not crazy quick, kind of like his father (Doc). Both can shoot the 3. I would like our matchups with those 2, MM on Rivers, and BB on Curry. Up front, they are not a team of bangers. They have some bigs, but not crazy athletic bigs. The 2 Plumlees (Mason and Miles) are good players at 6’10”, but not dominators. They have another big player, Ryan Kelly who is about the Plumlee’s size, again not a dominant force. Lehigh would have to play a lot of minutes probably with JM and GK against their front line, with probably JA or HG guarding a bigger player. I think CJ could have a big game against them. All in all, would be a very attractive game for Lehigh compared to some other possibilities.
March 9, 2012 at 5:52 pm #5286Looks like Duke, at least accordin to LoRe.
