Assuming we have at least 17 full schollies in the till.Per NCAA we could give up to 30. Under PL By laws we cannpt exceed 60 equivalencies from need, athletic or academic sources.
14 verbals that we are aware of . Speculating class will in the 26-29 range with the loss of 26 from the roster..Guessing that we have used at least 9 full rides and 5 partials so far. Any computation is complicated by the mix of merit and need aid.For example,a high need recruit may qualfy for 3/5ths in need aid,the balance in merit aid. Partial can vary widely.
Likely we have somewhere around 6-8 full schollies left to spend on 10-15 recruits, Have no idea whether that is good or bad. Hopefully enuf to keep building a dominant classJanuary 19, 2015 at 8:38 pm #17723Rich,
Do your calculations take into account the schollies given up by Yosha and Pandy?January 19, 2015 at 9:32 pm #17724Yes,as best as possible.24 srs and 2 transfers.Pandy full or partial? Also,Rugg eligible for another yr. How much actual $ is freed up by those leaving is unknown. Also, how much merit $ will Joe let Andy spend? Need aid not a AD budget expense as recruits receive only what all students get. Caveat here is that FB need aid are grants but can also includes loans up to full amt.

January 21, 2015 at 5:54 am #17767Don’t think you can mix and match need versus merit per PL rule.
January 21, 2015 at 6:22 am #17768I’ll check but I thought only limit by PL is no more than 60 total football schollies over 85 players. The PL computes 60 by including all aid ,merit, athletic and need towards the total. Of necessity it would seem a school would likely have to mix and match to some extent. But that’s me. I’ll delve into by laws to check.
January 21, 2015 at 5:56 pm #17780Did some more reseach.Operational Bylaws only state that the mix of academic merit, need and athletic merit cannot exceed 60full equivalencies. While the combo of athletic and need aid for a specific recruit may be rare,it does not appear to be prohibitd under PL rules.
January 21, 2015 at 6:14 pm #17782That is logical since in FCS schools can (and do) split scholarships all the time.
January 21, 2015 at 6:34 pm #17783maybe not so rare, as the source of funds would be different (athletic budget vs academic budget) I’m sure Joe has to mind the budget and there are other sports to be concerned about also
January 21, 2015 at 6:47 pm #17784My thinking also but confirmation impossible. Q ,the 26 departurds acct for how much $ against the PL cap? That number s/b a fairly close approx of what Andh has available. The variable is how much will Joe allot? Theoretically we could give up to 30full rides
