AnonymousLooking forward to football starting up. Defense will be very interesting to see what changes the new coach puts in. Who fills the empty spots? Hope every position is open and the coaches place the hungry guys. I think we have 43 Db’s on the spring roster??? Everytime I looked we signed a new db. Anyway, I think the d-line and db’s should be okay. Linebackers are definitely a question mark!!! On offense, Brisson should be okay. Alot of returners. Fullback, slot and Qb are the question marks. Like to see good battles at all of those positions…Did any kids transfer out? Did any transfer in? Should be fun to watch
March 17, 2017 at 11:40 pm #30964QB a question mark?? Naah not hardly. We have 5 on roster for the fall. You have someone besides Brad to start? Monaco and Shoup will develop well with Scot but neither will beat out Brad.
LB crew is the biggest issue for Spring ball.
Slot Christiano and Gamble perhaps.March 18, 2017 at 12:29 am #30965If qb is on our list of top worries, this should be a good year!
March 18, 2017 at 12:40 am #30966rumor has it quarterback out of shape with a couple of extra pounds added- too much partying????
anything short of a playoff win this year is a disappointment

Wouldn’t worry about a few pounds going into Spring practice. Really doubt he will be out of shape for Nova.March 19, 2017 at 3:17 pm #30976SHOULD BE A DOOSEY

Yup :).March 19, 2017 at 6:36 pm #30979There are definitely a lot of good reasons to be optimistic. Mayes is a big time quarterback with big time receivers and a running game to boot. The change of defensive coordinators is a very positive development and, in my opinion, long overdue.

March 21, 2017 at 9:25 pm #30982I’m really hoping this year’s team is on the level of the 2011 team. The defense still has to become more physical if that’s going to happen. Last year the unit improved but was still below average in the grand scheme of things.
While the skill players will get the pub on offense the OL could be the most dominant aspect. I can’t think of a more experienced group! Maybe 1999?
They need to step up and beat Villanova to set the tone early. The Wildcats will be breaking in a new coaching staff and several fresh faces on defense. Their offense wasn’t great last year and doesn’t figure to be all that explosive in 2017. Given what happened against Monmouth in the opener and UNH to finish the year Lehigh better come ready to smack around the Wildcats. A season opening loss to ‘Nova and Lehigh might have to run the table in the league just to get back to the playoffs given a “meh” OOC schedule. Penn might end up being their best OOC opponent.
I’m still interested to find out if Lehigh can host playoff games moving forward. Because if they can’t then I don’t anticipate success in the playoffs if they make it. A 11-0 or 10-1 being sent on the road would be an absolute joke…
March 21, 2017 at 9:38 pm #309832011? Perhaps. But I’m hoping for 98 or 00. This D on the cusp of being good from last season. Believe DC Sutyak will get D to that level.
O will score like 98. OL is always the foundation. Potentially one of the best units Lehigh has had.
Looking towards a spirited Spring and a healthy one.March 21, 2017 at 10:42 pm #30984Guess my major caveat is how well will Brisson do ar OC. He has learned from some of the best. We’ll see.
March 21, 2017 at 10:53 pm #30985Looking forward to this yr. We lost alot of good players from a mediocre D last yr. Kinda scared of what to expect from this yrs version. I keep hearing how Sutyak will have them better, if you was in the know, you already realize he was basically running the D last yr. This move is nothing new to the team! Hope Mayes steps up n play well. The backup QB is always the popular guy. Lets see how he plays when he carries the team. Nick was pretty good. Good luck to the team this spring, hopefully we find some bidding gems that will finally get their shot!
March 21, 2017 at 11:20 pm #30986caslow, ripanti, harvey and lambert a lot to replace on a D that was improving if not lights out, not to mention leaks, DL should be better with a year in the weight room for the frosh
agree on Mayes, he has shown well in limited duty, but leading the O for 11 weeks is the key, really have no conern with OL, RB, or WR unless we get a rash of injuries
hope someone is at practices and can give some insight, long way to September
