Anonymousagree on defense. we lost some good players on an average defense last year. i hope the new voice brings a new enthusiasm. i also agree on hosting a playoff game. ridiculous that we did not have a home playoff game last year. im going to stick with that the ad prides himself on running a d1 level football team on a shoestring. do we have a contract with any major brand? if not, why not??? on the offense, i think the coaches should be thrilled. it should be loaded. the coaches last year had mayes 2, timmo 3 monaco 4 and crave hurt. watched film on all qbs on hudl. i would not sleep on monaco. he’s got good feet and throws well on run. could be interesting battle. dont know where crave and timmo fit because brad jumped them two years ago. could be a two horse race. i think that all jobs should be open across the board and nothing should be given. i have always voiced my opinion on this but lehigh seems to award jobs just because you played the year before. crazy??? legit d1 teams make you fight for your job every year. have not seen that at lehigh. just my opinion. hoping for a great spring game. ad…spend some money!!!
March 22, 2017 at 10:46 am #30988Agree on position competition. Monaco s/b #2 coming out of Spring. FB is only spot w/o a returner. Perhaps Nana?
Dont expect any malor changes with Brisson. How well he does in game compared to Fopmar crucial for us. As is avoiding any complacency on O. Last year’s stats will not win any games this year.
Sutyak will I think be more aggressive this year. LBs are the key. 0lenty of bodies hopefully enuf talentMarch 22, 2017 at 4:28 pm #30989
Anonymoustight end should have some competition. i hope o-line is rotated and even if coaches stay with all seniors they need to factor in some younger guys to get them experience. this offense could be really ugly in two years. all o-line graduates, all receivers graduate and a qb with limited mobility. ugh!!! i hope they play more guys this year even if its mop up duty its play time and our offense will need it. also, we need to bring in nasty kids. we look soft. we are not physical. we need some thugs!!! tats, gold teeth and dreads. i do realize this is is lehigh and that does not fly but it would not hurt. this is not a sport where manners matter. im not saying sell out to street football but it would help when we play real teams. a back flip on a td would be nice. a jump ball wide receiver catch and leave it on the defenders head would be great. how bout a personal foul once in awhile. THIS IS FOOTBALL AFTERALL. sorry just remembering how football was suppose to be played. Taunting was great!!! Packers, Raiders and Hurricanes. Those were great times. football is losing its swag. their are still some d1aa teams that have swag. hope we instill some into our team…this is not a gentlemans game!!!

A true bonus to have 4 starters back. Not really too concerned with 18.
Expect Hawkinson will shift from C to vacant G spot if Lomax ready at C. We lose 3 srs from this unit going into 18. Motley may take O’Hara’s spot or get the vacant G slot. Look for Rosen, O’Carrol Curlin and Lomax to push for spots.
WRs Set for next year. 18 we lose TP and GC. Sasha has a redshirt year. Bianchini will push for rotation this year. Gamble Bibben Christiano will also. Look for Jordan also. 18 we will not have the height we are used to at WR. Still will be a very fast groyp.

Attitude and swagger are indeed important. Think that will amp up with Sutyak. Question is whether he can get a competent LB group. Dont expect the equal of last yr. DL has size and athleticism . Mitchell back at NG a bonus if he can stay healthy. Roberts tends not to rotate his guys. IMO he has enuf depth to do so. A consistent rotation will help keep DL active and effective.March 23, 2017 at 4:20 am #30991Two questions for our moderator or other insiders:
1) Can anyone confirm authoritatively via official source — the AD, coach or NCAA — that we cannot host a playoff game?
2) Every spring we learn a player or two has left the program or university. Anyone leaving this year?
BTW: I like the Nana FB idea. The guy would be one heckuva shifty FB, too.

[/quote]we have hosted in the past, I believe last year the issue was that ESPN wanted later start times and without lights we could not support the late start time
March 23, 2017 at 11:31 am #30993I think van is right. Fron what I read it was a TV call for start times not an NCAA call. Whether it will be the same this year?? Have no idea.
March 23, 2017 at 4:32 pm #30994The losses at LB is a concern but everyone has to replace something. While last year was an experienced group there I think the eye test shows it wasn’t a lights out. The DL has finally gotten bigger which has resulted in improvement. They still need more depth/a higher motor against the better teams. I thought the secondary overall was very good in coverage but their ball skills were subpar.
This team has A LOT coming back. This is the year that has been building since 2014 and then the 2015 turnaround. It’s 5 years of scholarship players. Mayes and the new OC need to get on the same page and the luck has to be on their side injury wise. Like the last 4-5 years, defense will define the season…
