This is unbelievable, as I was going to head to the Fox before I knew of the LU event, as a friends dad owns the place! This is going to be one special night.
Does anyone know where the LU tickets are located? Are they behind the bench? I found some cheapies online for like 5 bucks, but if LU tickets are good I’ll buy those instead.
SO fired up…ken pom I think has us losing 77-70, let’s prove him wrong!

November 5, 2011 at 12:24 am #3863I believe the tixs are in Section 10 – Arena Level. That should put us behind our bench but up one level above the lower deck or "Courtside" seats which are reserved for sesaon ticket holders.
Hoops, it won’t be hard to find me. Look for an old white-haired guy wearing something brown.

I think Pomeroy’s rankings at this point are based on past years. St. Johns returns exactly one letterman this year – so you can make a good case that LU should be favored. The Redmen (oops, I mean Red Storm) looked horrible vs D3 St. Mary’s of Maryland the other night. Might well have lost were it not for a big rebounding edge over an overmatched team. St. Johns went 22-42 from the FT line and 1-12 on threes.

LU should have a good shot. They must play with confidence and not alway look to the same players to score. I will be watching on ESPNU.November 6, 2011 at 4:06 pm #3874Agree with you bison, we’re catching johnnies at the right time of the season, that much we know. They have 3 ineligible frosh and I think only 7/8 guys on schollie right now on the active roster. We’ll see what happens, but they could be primed for an upset, and I’d love to see a PL team win against a Big East team no matter what the circumstances, and to have it be live on espn2, would be huge for the league.
November 6, 2011 at 4:24 pm #3875Quick recap of Red Storm
They return one scholarship letter-winner from last year. His name: Malik Stith (5’11" G)
Gone is 97.8% of team rebounding and 96.3 of team scoring from last year.
Expect 6 newcomers to see action this year – 3 freshmen, 1 sophomore and 1 junior. Their highly-rated 2011-12 recruiting class features three recruits ranked in the Top 100 in the nation. Their names:: Harkless (6’8" G/F), Pointer (6’6" G/F), and Harrison (6’3" G).
St. John’s played two exhibition games and recoding wins in both (not necessarily easy ones at that) over CW Post, and St. Mary’s (MD) – both outside D-I. Takeaways include:
Poor 3-Point Shooting (7/30 or .233)
Poor FT Shooting (26 for 52 or .500, excluding Harkless the numbers are even worse….16 for 40 or .400)
The dominance of 6’8" Jr. f/c God’sgift Achiuwa (17 for 22 FG shooting)
Points Scored (110 and 77)
Points Allowed (80 and 77)
Limited bench (7 players – each getting 23+ minutes of action)
Stith – the returning star – seems to be bowing to the newcomers, having attempted just 8 FGs in 52 minutes of exhibition play
Strong Red Storm ball-hawking skills (25 steals)Story line following latest win (77-70 over St. Mary’s):
Newcomers Moe Harkless and God’sgift Achiuwa each posted double-doubles as St. John’s used 46 points in the paint and a +14 rebounding margin to defeat St. Mary’s (Md.), 77-70. St. John’s shot 45.8 percent (27-of-59) from the floor and turned 15 Seahawk turnovers into 19 points.
Harkless totaled a team-high 20 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for his second double-double in as many games, while Achiuwa had 15 points and 10 boards. Nurideen Lindsey added 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists, and D’Angelo Harrison gave St. John’s four players in double-figures with a 12-point performance.
Devin Spencer scored a game-high 25 points to lead St. Mary’s (Md.), which made 13 3-pointers in the contest.
Opening Statement from Asst. Coach Rico Hines:
“Our guys did a good job of getting to their spots and getting out of our twenty-two – which is our full-court – and getting back to our half court which is our 1-1-3. With the type of defense we play there is some things we have to live with. Sometimes guys are going to make 3s.
St. John’s opens regular season play on Monday. It’ll be broadcast on ESPNU. Their opponent, William and Mary, just happens to be our opponent on Friday, Nov. 18th down at the 2KSports Classic Sub-regional in Lynchburg, VA. Tune in to scout both teams.
Hope to see you at the Sly Fox prior to tip-off on Wednesday
November 6, 2011 at 6:03 pm #3876B137……….Along the lines of what LUHoops00 was saying re big wins for the league, good luck to you – sincerely – in your contests against Minnesota (Big 10/Pomeroy #43) and Vanderbilt (SEC/Pomeroy #9). Let’s together put the PL on the map this year like never before.
November 6, 2011 at 6:42 pm #3877LU65 – just bought my tixx through the LU link you provided a couple of days ago. Two questions for you.
1.) Do you have any idea what section they are in?
2.) Do we get them at happy hour or at the will call? Sorry if you already answered, couldn’t find this anywhere.LUHoops00
November 6, 2011 at 7:48 pm #3879Assume we’re in Section 10 (mid-level) and tixs will be given to us at the Sly Fox. But, I’ll contact Z or someone at the university tomorrow to be sure and post answers.
November 6, 2011 at 11:38 pm #3880How big of an obstacle is it for an opposing coach to have to play a team with absolutely no tape on them. Since much of Lehigh’s team is intact, a coach can always review film of last year’s team and their tendencies etc. How does Redd approach St. Johns.
November 7, 2011 at 6:03 am #3881Good luck! The first game is almost here. Play hard young men.
November 7, 2011 at 9:50 pm #3890Rich Hass, Ticket Manager, informs me that our tickets will be held at the Arena Will Call Window and not distributed during Happy Hour at the Sly Fox.

Good question TMH, however, St. John’s plays William and Mary tonight on ESPNU, which doesn’t give the staff and players a lot of time, but will give them an idea of how St. John’s wants to play and of player tendencies.
Additionally, the Johnnies played at least two exhibition games that were covered in the media, which leads me to believe they were not closed scrimmages. It may be that one of our staff was able to attend or obtain tape of one of the exhibitions. And lastly, they will likely be running most of the same sets and plays that they ran last year, so the team should be aware of what they want to do as a unit, if not aware of individual player tendencies.
November 7, 2011 at 11:18 pm #3892Thanks 65, was hoping to avoid will call line and have them hand the toxx out at the bar, to avoid waiting in line at will call, which would mean more time ponied up at bar.
