First of all, this is not a sore loser rant, just the facts. There were two key calls made against LU that made the difference in this game. LU played their best game all season and got shafted. With that said, good luck to whoever represents us in the NCAA. One more season for us on the west coast. Great job by the guys from the west coast who will all be seniors next year.
March 7, 2011 at 3:16 am #3386That was disgusting. I was at a sports bar and didn’t hear the sound. But…what the hell was the technical foul about??? And how did the officials miss the hammer on CJ on that last shot? A complete embarrassment on national TV for the Patriot League and its officials.

The technical as they called it was Ojo and BU player battling, the ref said he swung an elbow. It was not flagrant if an elbow at all from my angle. The play on CJ by Muscala was the play of the game. CBS is making is clear for all to see. Muscala’s face after the play said it all. I got away with it. While I have ragged on Coach Reed all season, he did a great job today. I still say, he needed more of his bench players involved. What a terrible way to go out. Not even being given a chance, rather the refs deciding the winner.
March 7, 2011 at 2:27 pm #3388What about the "jump ball" where a Bucknell player wasn’t anywhere near the ball and CJ was calling time out? You could almost hear the Lehigh announcers roll their eyes as they reported it.
My biggest beef was on the technical call. Who calls a flagrant foul on that play with just about two minutes remaining? And if you are going to call it that way, then why not call Muscala’s shove of CJ in the chest at the end?
While the officiating was real questionable, the truth is that Lehigh had three or four golden opportunities to reclaim the lead in the second half but couldn’t do so. While I’m a huge fan of CJ, I look back at those point-blank misses he had, and think: What if only *one* of them had gone down?
March 7, 2011 at 5:38 pm #3389Heck of a contest. Both teams played very good D. Cohen was vg shadowing CJ. Reed did a great job switching up Ds. A shame game had to end on such a very bad call. We still may not have won, but the kids deserved the chance to try.

The game was a classic and one that I’ll relive (thank God for DVR) a few dozen time until the start of Fall practice.
It’s now time to get behind the winner of Friday’s Championship Game. Never thought I’d say this but, "Go Lafayette." With a Leopard win we get two teams into the national spotlight (BU / NIT and LC / NCAAs).
March 8, 2011 at 3:07 pm #3391Not that it’s any condolence from a sworn enemy here, but you wuz robbed. The video replay doesn’t lie.
Playing Bucknell in the finals will be sweet for my Pards, but another Lafayette-Lehigh matchup for the title would have been a lot more fun.

That’s all I was trying to say on your board. The rivalry is so strong, I know that both teams would leave it all on the floor. But as Bison 137 said, that call would not have been made by any referee. What a shame. So what we are saying is that a player can hack at the end because it will not be called, so I guess they will all go hard now. wink wink:) Enjoy the game, I certainly will.

Of course, the same could be said for Michael Ojo’s elbows. Double standard.March 9, 2011 at 6:45 pm #3399I added a summary of the men’s game to the end of my women’s preview today:
That performance by Prentice Small should not be forgotten.

Can’t argue that if that was the case. Honestly, from my angle, I could not tell. I assume you were closer and got a better look. If he did, that is definitely wrong.March 10, 2011 at 6:22 am #3401"lfnadmin" wrote: I added a summary of the men’s game to the end of my women’s preview today:

He played a great game. One cannot help but wonder how things would have ended, had he played more this year, but oh well. On to the championship game. Wishing both teams the best! It should be a good game.
March 10, 2011 at 2:07 pm #3402Rutgers feels the pain, too, losing to St. John’s. Even an experienced – and probably a much higher paid – referring crew of Burr, Higgins and Walton couldn’t get it right last night. Still doesn’t remove the bad taste in my mouth following our loss to Bucknell. But, they say misery loves company and if that’s the case, we have a lot of friends over in Piscataway (NJ) this morning.

I feel you. The refs are deciding more and more games. The best way to win is get ahead and stay ahead. Getting ready for the big game.Good luck!
