What was with the second down call with Colvin in the game?

I think the offensive play calling has been awesome all year — no one can complain. But you can’t mess around like that in a playoff game down 17 points.

And you can’t take your Payton finalist off the field for more than a play with a chance to score — unless he was hurt — and it didn’t look like he was.

Who’s going to play QB next year? We’ve been spoiled with Lum.

The sad fact is that is was incredibly infair to Chris Lum who busted his tail taking the team down the field. It was a real momentum killer, not that we would have won.

I’ve seen enough of Colvin this year to know he can’t throw. With Spadola coming back, I would rather see a sophomore or junior play than Colvin. If it is Colvin, LU is going to have to change to the triple option.

Congratulation to LU. The PL was well represented by the Hawks. I thought it was very unfortunate that Spadola was kept out. I think that another option with Spadola’s skill and speed would have made a difference and helped Lum considerably. Dwral was terrific. I agree that the decision to put Colvin in was harebrained to say the least, but these comments are always easy in retrospect.
Well done. Now graduate everyone and make sure that you are not so good next year.

I think you meant ‘Trey’ Brown the old OC?

Yes, that has to go down as one of the most odd calls I’ve seen after we marched 70 yards and then to change momentum with a qB changeup. We score, its a whole new ball game.

Spring ball will be a wide open competition from my perspective. Colvin is an excellent athlete, but not a good passer. If Barket doesn’t recover, I could see him as an RB with Bialkowski at QB. A lot of good skilled people back next year. We can make it happen again.

Methinks Dave overthought himself on that call

Yes, too cute for our own good. It certainly looked like NDSU was looking for that option. Our receiver had 3 defenders around him.
