Of interest to us down the road.

Lafayette played a very good Maryland team tight last night at Maryland.  Perhaps Leopards are improved, although 1-4 so far.  Absolutely annihilated at Kentucky by 50+.

UNT blown out by a lousy Virginia team at Virginia.  Mean Green 3-3 with losses to good Creighton squad, Virginia and, yikes, Alabama Huntsville.  This looks like a win for Lehigh now, even in Denton.

Baylor, lost a surprising game at home to Colorado.  Bears now 4-1 and number 24.  They get their test in Kentucky in 2 weeks.  Won vs. BC and St. John’s.

Pitt, now 4-0, but taken to OT at home by Oakland.  Chance that Panthers not as strong as we thought.

VCU is 2-1, but did loss a surprising game to Wichita St.  Possible for a Lehigh win here as well.

HC off to a good start at 3-1, but haven’t played anybody.  Loss to UTSA by 4.  They have a pretty easy OOC schedule with only big games being St. John’s, Providence, Harvard and BC, and none of those schools ranked.

American at 2-2.  Doubled up by Minnesota and lost double digits to San Francisco.  Won at Quinnipiac.  Don’t look like a major factor in PL.

Quinnipiac is 2-3 but has played a very good schedule.  Won at Hartford and Iona, loss to American, close to UConn and George Mason.

Navy 2-3, Army a surprising 3-1, Colgate better at 2-3.

And, of highest importance, Bucknell off to a 5-0 start with wins at Purdue, George Mason at home (both quality). then weaker Niagara, NM St, and W Alabama.  They will have tests upcoming at Penn St, Kent St, and LaSalle.  But, Bucknell has serious potential to start off 15-0.  Then they go to Missouri, who is number 13 to close out OOC schedule.

examiner.com tells us that…”VCU beat 19th ranked University of Memphis which was pressed right out of the gate and got behind fast and never caught up to the Rams who led by as many as 16 points and led 42-28 at half time. VCU who is, amazingly, unranked shot 13-22 from three-point range which is off-the-charts shooting; additionally, VCU got 14 steals from six different players to keep the much bigger Tigers from getting comfortable though Memphis’ size allowed them to get spinning moves into the paint many of which became layups. Both teams shot very well in the game as Memphis shot 27-53 while VCU shot 26-54. The three-point range of VCU made the difference as Memphis only shot 2-7 from long range. The final score was VCU 78 Memphis 65. VCU will play 5th ranked Duke tomorrow, November 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. EST.”

LU travels to Richmond on January 5th to closeout it’s D-I OOC schedule.

I think the only OOC game we’re dogs in from here on out is at VCU, which by the way I’m toying with going down for. It is a Saturday, flights are pretty cheap, the venue is supposed to be solid from what I’ve heard and it appears to be right downtown…Could make for a fun road trip, anyone else thinking about it?

Only other games we’re probably dogs for the rest of year are the BU games as of now.

I didn’t notice Army in 90’s initial post. The Black Knights concern me and fear they could play a spoiler role if given the chance. I see they’re our final game of the season @ LU on 3/2. They return their power forward, 6’7″ Ella Ellis who in his junior year was one of two PL players last year to average 15pts, 4 reb, and 2 assists per game. The other was CJ. Ellis is off to a good start this year averaging 19.8 ppg, and 4.2 rpg. Army is presently 3-2 but put in good performances vs. Air Force and came away a 2OT loser @ Yale. They’re also averaging 38 rebounds per game this year. Let’s not overlook the Black and Gold.

Yeah that might be the biggest shock minus chaminade that I’ve seen/cared about so far. I was at Bryant game last year and they were bad, and BC I thought was improving under Donahue, but that is a really really bad loss.
