Less than 12 hours before game time and this board is crickets?
LFN has done a great job looking into the game, but …
No other predictions?
No other analyses?
I just hope Lehigh’s D shows up. Difficult to be too optimistic given the inexperience of LBs.
My prediction: ‘Nova 34, LU 31.
Yours?
September 2, 2017 at 11:36 am #31828I really think this team is much better than last year and Nova maybe about the same, expecting a win at home, don’t care if it is just by 1 point
September 2, 2017 at 12:48 pm #31829need to pressure quarterback- contain
receivers all back for nova
nova defense- lost a lot- but have nfl db- should be interesting with pellieter
Lehigh 34 Nova 28- overtime
September 2, 2017 at 1:29 pm #31830If Defense can stop the 3rd and longs and keep our Offense on the field, Lehigh 42 V 28. If Defense plays like our scrimmages giving up way too many of the 3rd and longs, V 42 Lehigh 28.
September 2, 2017 at 2:23 pm #31833I think the offense puts up more points than last year against VU. Our O didn’t really get cooking until game three and I think that continues. With the new D scheme and inexperienced LBs, I expect some early game adjusting – I just hope it doesn’t get out of hand before they settle in.
We’ve now run through a full cycle of recruiting in the scholarship era – and we’ve got a few 5th years as well, so I think this is really the first time we’re competing on close-to-even terms.
VU has a very good secondary, but we’ve got two AA-type receivers and a QB with a strong arm. I expect us to try to soften them up with the running game and then let the passing game go to work.
I’m going with Lehigh 32 Villanova 27.
September 2, 2017 at 7:29 pm #31834Bad D early. A fumble, and 2 (very surprising) drops from a win. If we see that 2nd half D regularly, season looks good to me.
September 2, 2017 at 7:30 pm #31835A tale of 2 halves for the D, the Offense looked great once they clicked- they left alot of points on the field( TP dropped pass, DM fumble). A lot of positive takeaways against a very good team, I have no doubt we’d beat them later in the season.
September 2, 2017 at 7:36 pm #31837Hell of a game. Dpm’s fumble at the end of the 1st half turned out to be the game. Very frustrating. O had a great game overall other than clutching on last series in 1st half.
Our D basically sucks. Big plays same as last year. Some good series and did play much better in 2nd half but not nearly enough. Nova ran us with ease for most of the game. The inexperience of Brisson and Sutyak showed. A few too many WTF play calls.
But, not unusual with 2 1st time coordinators. They will clean that up.
A game we couldve won. Hopefully it will serve as a motivator for the rest of the season. We dont face another team as good this year.September 2, 2017 at 7:41 pm #31840Doesn’t Bott call plays on D?
September 2, 2017 at 9:01 pm #31845Doubt it. But not sure. Some of the play calls do remind me of last year.
September 2, 2017 at 9:53 pm #31846In pre-game radio interview, Andy said Bott calls the defensive plays. Looks like LU will have to outscore people this year. They almost did against a good Nova team today
September 2, 2017 at 10:28 pm #31848Oh, not a great idea IMO. Changing all else and not that sort of defeats the purpose of the changes. Well, Botts was pretty good with 4-3. Didnt really see much of an attacking D today

September 3, 2017 at 12:11 am #31852To much zone IMO. Their receivers was offal. TE was good that’s their whole passing game. IMO should’ve played more man 2 man and attached more on defense. No blitzes or stunts. IMO the corners are solid enough to let them MAN UP and then you can cut the LBs loose to just fill holes and play on instincts. That got away. PL champs still in our GRASP
BACK2BACKSeptember 3, 2017 at 1:51 pm #31854Not quite ready to move on to Monmouth. First, it was great to see Casey once 2Q started. He was jumping out of his skin the whole first quarter. Second, where was the fullback? Andy has moved to overloading TE’s but “Andy Coen” football includes a set that can gain a yard on 4th and 1 to continue a drive. We need the bodies – hard to watch with Dom starting six yards back without a blocker.
September 3, 2017 at 2:27 pm #31855not sure why Casey was not starting, maybe giving Kelsey a reward for his hard work to come back from surgery, or did Casey have a team rule issue?
anyway, we certainly have at least 5 really talented WRs, good to see a break out by Cristiano
OC gonna have to quit using zone read until Brad keeps it a few times
