For what it’s worth, here’s how Jeff Sagarin views this upcoming weekend.

First the Patriot League (Team, Rank among the 245 DI college programs, Rating)

    LC 166 52.72
    CU 168 52.04
    LU 180 50.50
    FU 200 44.63
    HC 201 44.61
    BU 227 36.98
    GT 235 32.30

Ummm, I guess Sagarin doesn’t value too highly the Crusader’s wins over Georgetown (ranked 235) and Sacred Heart (ranked 242). Once PL play gets underway, might this be anyone’s year?

    Upcoming Game Spreads of Interest

    BU + 8 @ Cornell
    CU – 6 @ Dartmouth
    Yale @ Georgetown + 23
    Columbia @ FU + 5
    Liberty @ LC + 2
    Harvard @ HC + 15
    The Citadel @ Princeton + 6

#235 is the lowest ranking for Georgetown since 1993, when it joined the MAAC and was ranked #236 to open the season.

No PL team should be ranked #235, but the PL in general isn’t held in much esteem by the national experts.

As expected. I think the PL is wide open this year with only BU and GU being major surprises if they win more than two games. Fordham doesn’t seem to have bounced back, but can be dangerous. CU, LC, LU and HC are pretty well lumped together. Each has some strengths and weaknesses. Depends on who can exploit what. Villanova is an elite team with speed we could not match. But there were some bright spots considering the almost half the expected starting lineup on D was missing. We have a ton of sophs and juniors starting right now. Personnel wise, I think we are better, but the other conferences–CAA and NEC have gotten more better and the gap will widen if we don’t go to scholarship recruiting.
