I’ve played football and watched forever. I’ve watched plenty of Lehigh football as well. I agree with a lot of the observations about the D on this site (the D stinks)…why does the D stink?

    1. You cant have mediocre defensive backs be converted to LBs…what you get is a below-average LB who is not physical; pretty clear they can’t cover TEs down the middle of the field either, so what’s the use of having under-sized LBs?

    2. Pretty clear to me that there was no competition for starting spots on the D. If changes are made, do the coaches go to their next “favorite” or do they create actual competition?

    3. This whole defensive coaching staff stinks. they not only have bad schemes, they don’t get the kids mentally ready to play. Bott should retire. Ward should find another line of work before its too late. Sutyak and Roberts might be able to coach at Lackawanna J.C.

    4. The offense lacks creativity. How many times can you throw to the same kids?

This is what you get when you run Camp Cupcake. No hitting , no competition, no toughness.

I’ve been saying from time entered this. Board the coaches do not play the best players. It’s a private school mentality. They wanna beat the rival and maybe take turns winning the league every 5 to 7 years. No passion period. Kids feed of there coaches and peers. SWAGGLESS. We can which spots were given and not earned. Clearly those captains were not picked by the TEAM but rather the coaches. I’m sure Troy would’ve been a captain.

    Oh Well

good post…i agree with your evaluation of each segment of the team especially at the qb spot. he may have talent but clearly is not a leader. he looks like he would rather be somewhere else. the coaching is sub-par. coen doesn’t seem like he’s all there…hope something isn’t wrong. his interviews and post game stuff he uses the f-word by mistake…i dont know. something is up!!!lb’s are non existent. it’s just ugly this year. no leadership…

How bad is the LU defense?

It’s ranked 118th of 123 FCS teams in total defense, averaging giving up 532 yards per game.

Probably won’t get much better this weekend.

Mississippi Valley State (last with 602 ypg), Savannah State, Central Connecticut, Sam Houston State and Missouri State are worse than LU. Only Sam Houston has a winning record among those teams (2-0).

The other worst defenses in the Patriot League: Fordham (485.7) and Laughayette (476.3).

LU passing offense is second nationally. Have you seen who is sixth in passing?

Hint: It’s led by a former assistant coach.

    Valparaiso! Dave Cecchini.
