Interesting….do we have a return game with Rider this year? Unfortunately, it will likely be at Rider.

Based on the info in 65’s thread about the 14-15 schedule, looks like we will be playing @ Rider this year…

Sorry to see Whitfield go, I think he could have developed into a very good Patriot League player. That said, I’m hoping that with the combo of Alston and Glover coming into the program that we can replace some of Whitfield’s skills. Also, assuming Baltimore comes back – he likely would have taken a good chunk of the power forward minutes Shane was forced into last season. It will be interesting to see where Whitfield ends up. Any predictions? Drop down to a lower division or choose a mid/low major nearer to home in North Carolina?

I’m gonna guess that location will be a key. My early money is on Eastern Carolina or NC Central.

I also think some new faces will fill the minutes. I’m eager to see JRG and BA, and agree that they might have skill sets similar to Shane’s. I also wonder if McCaskill will fit this role. I don’t know anything about him, but making the team at UCLA says something, to me.

Glover is the one to watch, I think. BA and McCaskill are Gs. Glover is not,he seems to be more of an inside player. Us that what we need? Besides some instant O off the bench and more consistent outside shooting :)

For me, I think the biggest problem last year offensively was an inability to put the ball on the floor from the wing and finish at the rim. Aside from Mackey, no one on the team could consistently penetrate.

I’m hoping Alston can bring that to the table, and that JRG will bring some finishing ability to the 3/4 slot. Hopefully Price has improved in this area as well, and if Simelton does indeed get minutes at the 2 (I think he will) I hope he continues to attack and finishes better than last year.

My guess on Whitfield is that he ends up at maybe on of the MEAC schools in his area, or even one of the excellent DII’s in that region.

Totally agree on the need, SBum. I’m also hoping for some of that kind of game from McCaskill. Did some poking around recently and I’m seeing 6’6″ with nearly a 7′ wingspan. Makes me think he should be able to attack the rim – but I’ve made that mistake before…
