I had said before the game that if we hold Yale to under 30 we win. I cannot believe how inept we were on offense. The play calling was bland. Nothing new. The OL was horrendous. Shaf could never get beyond a first read. One time Pelletier was breaking wide open down the middle, but Shaf never had enough time to set and throw before running for his life. This a major problem and if things don’t improve at Bucknell, then I sense a major overhaul will be needed. The season is 1/2 over. We are regressing. Not acceptable.

The lack of post game comments speaks volumes about the status of the program. LU’s response over the next two months will say a lot and have a big impact on alumni support,I would think.

I dont know what to say. I was disgusted at what I saw. Tried to let it simmer before I posted. Fooking pathetic. The O was the O. The same 5 plays, im not shocked a smart school like Yale figured it out. The OC a joke, TMH can give u all the stats he wants. The O pathetic. When they put Mayes in he drove right down the field with quick readsband getting rid of ball…immediately! I like Shaf but daaaammm. Mayes a TRUE QB. #84 dropped 2 possible TD passes. Shsf didnt see TP for a third, wanted to run. Glad they made the change from #84 to #80. #84 wasnt producing, so the put in Kelsey who didn’t drop a pass. Long 6 weeks ahead of us. Dont see a win besides GU, and thats not a gimme, sad state for LU football. They make Os look like world beaters. The backup rb for Yale had 200yds, ia that correct? Pathetic!

Lehigh Guy WHAT game were you watching ??? Mayes drove the team down the field ??? What fantasy are you living in ??? He did no more than any other of the backup QB’s would have done . As for him being a REAL QB he has yet to prove ANYTHING ,his pass to TP almost got him broke in half ,because TP had to make a leaping catch of one of his so called good pass’s ,When you make dumb STATEMENTS expect a response and if you don’t like ,TOO BAD ,because you are one of the worst guys who comment and all you do is BITCH about the Lehigh QB ,maybe you should check and see who is the entire O for Lehigh ,also check the PL stats to see where the Lehigh QB ranks in passing and rushing .

No question Schaf is the QB and has some impressive stats to show this season. But there was no reason to pull Mayes with 2 minutes left in the game. He was moving the offense down the field and his getting some game experience should have been the focus and not getting Schaf back on the field as soon as he was ready to take the next snap.
If we were one score from taking a lead late in the game its one thing. 17 Points down with 2 minutes left, the kid should have finished the drive.

Mayes is a real QB, #9 is a local/ really good athlete and person that seemed to be the future. Love Nick, but we need to move on…………..nick=bj .Stats only matter if you win 61.
BTW, dumb statements are made ALL the time by supporters that want their team to win.

See holy, you just like TMH with the stats. What game was YOU watching! Ive said plenty of times I like Shaf so get your Sheeeet right! Theres NO deniaing Shaf leaves his reads to quick. Dont know why Mayes was out there when he was, but he drove them down the field when game was still in question, then they put Shaf back in, drive over! Shouldve let hom finish drive! Dont talk to me about dumb post, you just made one!

Mayes was in because Shaf’s helmet came off so he had to come out. Yesterday wasn’t his best day but he still gives Lehigh its best chance to win. This is not Clark/Lum

will be next season, unless you like mediocre. If we had stuck with bj in 2010, history would be much different, no ranking and no playoffs. YEP!

    Miller,
What are your memories of the 2010 season?
I seem to remember a team that started out 2-2, including getting blasted 35-0 by a very good Villanova team. But what I really remember is that our defense only gave up 20 points in a game 3 times. We lost 2 of them. We were not the offensive juggernaut that you may have remembered averaging the same 23 ppg. Defense was the difference between that 10-3 season and the one we are playing this year.
But hell, those are stats and we all know how meaningless that is :-).

for the record, Shaf came out of the game because he took a big hit and could not get up resulting in a time out for injury, thus he had to come out

I agree that Mayes should have been left in to finish the game since it was clearly out of hand at that time and the experience would have been worth more than getting Shaf back in to finish

#1 Problem this past week was the OL. Shaf had no time for receivers to come open. Obviously not blocking for the run game either.

#2 Was the D front. Pushed around at will. A horrible gashing. Embarrassing.

Both problems are major and need to be addressed quickly. Problem with D is the thinness due to injuries. I did not see any of the aggressiveness that I saw earlier in the season. With no pressure on the QB, any decent QB will pick apart a secondary.

I agree everyone has great points but whats being left out is the defense coordinator leaves the same 11 kids on the field the whole game. Where they do that at??? Again,,,, no packages for 3rd and long 2nd and short no packages at all.. it’s pathetic… 3-3-5 the whole game. Yale 3 WRs majority of the game with a H-Back why we needed 5 DBs on the field. 4 down lineman would have slowed up the run. The defense we play allows the Guards to get to our undersized LBs..

    Coaching change is needed PERIOD

NJ FAN and Lehigh GUY According to you Mayes was moving the team downfield .Does 2out of3 passing gaining a total of 19 yards moving the team downfield ??? Most of that yardage came a great reception by TP who went and caught the ball with one hand and almost got killed by a DB who hit him in the back because he was exposed trying to make a great catch .Have you guys ever see MAYES try to run from pressure by D lineman .I drove down to JMU and saw MAYES get sacked I believe twice within a min. or so ,and he has little or no quickness or foot speed to avoid a sack .I to was wondering WHY Shaf was put back in after being sacked 4 times . Is the HC trying to get him hurt to maybe play Mayes ,and then what will you say if he is not as good as you think .If he is such a great QB WHY is he not playing for FL,or FL.ST or Duke or Standford ,all schools of higher education . How many offers did he get from the better schools ???? Everyone wants to see a winning team ,but it takes 11 guys on O and 11 guys on D to have a successful season ,but than again it does help when you have coach’s who KNOW how to coach and teach the players how to play there position .
