Anyone that saw last year’s game vs Yale had to wonder about the large number of leg and ankle injuries to Lehigh players. It was extremely unusual and this changed the season because a number of linemen and our starting TB were disabled.

Was at the game . Yale very DIRTY team . That is why I wrote about getting even ,maybe break a few legs or knee’s .LOL Also REF’s were very bias in there calls ,mainly because it was the 100th year for YALE BOWL and I guess they favored Yale in most of the calls ,do not think they called one penalty for chop blocks by the Yale D on our O linemen and that is where all the injuries happened to our linemen . I think we lost 3 O linemen .

“this changed the season because a number of linemen and our starting TB were disabled.”

Exactly…including our ability to be creative on offense….see my other post.

We lost Short, Rugg and Nunes during that game. Hopefully, the upside (if any) is that it allowed us to get game experience to plenty of our underclassmen.

Yale at Lehigh is going to be a war. Guaranteed.

Besides 3 OL,also lost Mitchell and Remington. Yale DLine cut block on us. Cheap but not illegal. Yale OL chop blocked which was never called. No real excuse for our D.Varga very very good. Then O lost Yosha, who was slicing Yale. From then forward O was crippled.

Rich You are right on with your comment . Yale played a very dirty game and was never called on it by the refs .I think one of the injured O linemen was our center ,most important lineman to start the plays .Unless you have 2 really good centers the timing on most plays ,running or passing will suffer .As for the ref’s I think they were looking the other way most of the game to insure Yale won the game on the 100th year of the Yale Bowl celebration .The Yale Bowl looks older than 100 years .

OL to be effective has to coordinate. Losing 3 that was impossible. Little blocking in 2 nd half. Not lack of effort just communication and differing abilities. Shaf tried as did evrryone but just out of sync.
Whether legal or not chop and cut blocking is dirty football.

Comments from very knowledgeable and experienced football people that watched the game said that Yale chopped/cut blocked and took out 6 or 7 Lehigh starters. This turned the game around and gave them the W.
I would love to see the game tape.

You really dont, ugh. I can only recall 5 linemen but sure could have been more. O was a complete shambles, never the same again last year. Looking at what it could have been and what it was, which was pretty good. In my dreams it should have been a 52-45 W :)
