Why in a tie game would you not take the field goal and take the lead ??? With the FG the fumbled punt NEVER happens and our D has a chance to stop there O .The play calling from the 5 yd line with almost 2 min. and a time out left should have all Lehigh fans wondering who is calling these plays .You have a 230 lb RB and maybe the best running QB in the PL and you try 4 pass’s ,when the whole game the RB ‘s were running for good yardage .Maybe this goes back to last year at Holy Cross when the O tried I think 5 or 6 running plays from the 1 or 2 yard line and did not score which lead to a loss that Lehigh should have won .Feel sorry for all the players in this loss .I also think the coaching staff has to take some responsibility in this really tough loss .

Sorry ,but when a comment is made and capitalized ,WE NEED a REAL QB ,is that not a SNIDE remark about the current QB .IS the guy making this comment saying the Lehigh QB is not any good at being a QB .Boss ,like you stated the PLAYERS read this blog ,how would you take that remark if you were a player .As for telling EVERYBODY to check Mayes stats ,I did not !! My comment was for the person who made the snide remark about a REAL QB ,for him to check the stats if other guys felt like they wanted to check that was up to them .I also did not refer to the size or to what level of play his school played in FL .I will ADMIT that I may go overboard in defending the Lehigh QB ,but in MY opinion ,he is doing the very best that can be done with the play calling by the OC .Shaf has been one of the leading QB’s for a year and a half ,in passing and rushing .Maybe you forgot but I am sure he was forced into playing as a FR. and never given time to really learn college football .

Boss I am neither ,but a FOOTBALL fan and LEHIGH fan .MAYBE you are MAYES father or Grandfather ??? Only putting my 2 cents in just like everyone else . I don’t see you going off on other people who comment and put the blame on the Lehigh QB .I NEVER BASHED MAYES until some comments were made that he WAS A REAL QB .I suppose the guys would made these comments must have seen him play or are they his RELATIVES ,ARE YOU one of his relatives ??? I guess it’s okay when other guys bitch about SHAF ,he runs to much ,he doesn’t stay in the pocket ,he misses open receivers and on and on .ARE these guys being PATHETIC ,I guess not ,not in your mind .How did I bash MAYES ??? Great post !! Right on with all your observations ,but HOW does Lehigh go about fixing the problems ???? Bucknell ?? Fordham ??? Can we hire some out of work Eagles ??? We might have a better chance playing Penn .St. They barely beat Army .Both lines D and O have to play MAD and ANGRY and knock some players on the other team on there ass ,run over them like Yale did to Lehigh .Hope for a good injury report this week .

Marco Please go to the BERKLEY PREP school football records for the years 2012 to 2014 ,the 3 years the REAL QB played at that school .Lets get the record right and shows us all what a REAL GREAT QB’s record for those years REALLY are and all the LOSING teams they beat . You might be really SURPRISED at the REAL QB’s record .

NJ FAN and Lehigh GUY According to you Mayes was moving the team downfield .Does 2out of3 passing gaining a total of 19 yards moving the team downfield ??? Most of that yardage came a great reception by TP who went and caught the ball with one hand and almost got killed by a DB who hit him in the back because he was exposed trying to make a great catch .Have you guys ever see MAYES try to run from pressure by D lineman .I drove down to JMU and saw MAYES get sacked I believe twice within a min. or so ,and he has little or no quickness or foot speed to avoid a sack .I to was wondering WHY Shaf was put back in after being sacked 4 times . Is the HC trying to get him hurt to maybe play Mayes ,and then what will you say if he is not as good as you think .If he is such a great QB WHY is he not playing for FL,or FL.ST or Duke or Standford ,all schools of higher education . How many offers did he get from the better schools ???? Everyone wants to see a winning team ,but it takes 11 guys on O and 11 guys on D to have a successful season ,but than again it does help when you have coach’s who KNOW how to coach and teach the players how to play there position .

Lehigh Guy WHAT game were you watching ??? Mayes drove the team down the field ??? What fantasy are you living in ??? He did no more than any other of the backup QB’s would have done . As for him being a REAL QB he has yet to prove ANYTHING ,his pass to TP almost got him broke in half ,because TP had to make a leaping catch of one of his so called good pass’s ,When you make dumb STATEMENTS expect a response and if you don’t like ,TOO BAD ,because you are one of the worst guys who comment and all you do is BITCH about the Lehigh QB ,maybe you should check and see who is the entire O for Lehigh ,also check the PL stats to see where the Lehigh QB ranks in passing and rushing .

DocQb Well said and I would agree with all you wrote It looked like the Yale players knew every play that Lehigh was GOING TO RUN .There D linemen were in the backfield faster than our O could run the play .There are no trick plays or any kind of imagination in the play calling on O .There is no energy on the field or on the sidelines . It looks like the players are just going thru the motions and do not really care .Is this the players fault or no motivation from the coaching staff .To win MAYBE 2 more games this year will be really hard to do for this team ,unless there is a major shift in play calling and on the D .I thought the Lehigh O line played there worst game of the year .

I agree with almost all the comments about the Princeton game . I would give the O a B or a B- ,the D maybe a D- .The O played really well in spurts but to many pen.,drop pass’s and some bad play calling killed or stopped a drive .No imagination ,fakery or trick plays to make P play off the ball .Running game OK but blocking on pass plays was a little suspect .I thought our O line would really be great this year ,but it seems Shaf has less than 3 seconds to view the field and make a throw .Hard to tell if Princ. D line was that good or our O line was not very good .We can only hope that the other teams in the PAT. are not as strong rushing the QB or Lehigh is in trouble .Now for the D ????? One comment had it right ,the 3 D lineman is not working .Cannot work when they are being pushed back 5 yards into the LB’s .It looks like our size up front DOES make a difference in how the line stops the run .Small LB’s does not help when you have a RB at full speed coming throu the line . Also the lack of speed on the end arounds is plain to see even to people who know nothing about football .It seems this is the subject that gets most of the negative comments every week .Are the Lehigh D players this bad or are they badly coached .

Sorry I am NOT whining ,but just stating many of the plays were into the middle of the line and some were very slow ,like the play on the 5 yard line on 4th down . Would really like to see more screen plays and some trick plays to try and slow up the D line from just rushing without any worry of being sucked in and have some wide open plays .Do not want to sound like I am whining . Thought Lehigh played a good game .Did not like the 95 yard drive for there 1st TD or the 70 yard TD pass after they ran the same play TWICE on the same guy ,or the almost 50 yard TD pass .Happy we scored enough points to make it an easy win .On to the TIGERS .
